Guest guest
Anybody know the answer to my question? Do I soak the split peas overnight or what? > > I plan to make some split pea soup tomorrow but noticed on the SCD website that it says that you have to prepare beans according to the directions in Elaine's book. I don't have her book, so can anyone tell me how I need to prepare them before I start cooking them? I assume that the key is to soak them for several hours. Is that what I'm supposed to do? > > Thanks, > > >
Guest guest
Yeah, overnight or longer. Watch out - though. IME, split peas can be tough. to digest. Guest guest
Thanks for your reply Mara. I was thinking it might be hard to digest and you confirmed what I was thinking. My wife wants that for dinner tonight (Christmas Eve) so decided to make it for her. I am hesitant to eat any because my gut is finally feeling a little better since I stopped eating gluten products. I don't want to rock the boat yet so I'll probably avoid the soup tonight. : ( Not worth the pain. Thanks again! > >> > >> I plan to make some split pea soup tomorrow but noticed on the SCD website that it says that you have to prepare beans according to the directions in Elaine's book. I typically soak beans for around 12 hours. I drain them, and change the water at least twice. I would do the same with split peas. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
Guest guest
Thanks, Marilyn. I soaked them all day and am cooking them now for my wife. I'll probably take a bite of two to see if it effects me. Since stopping gluten my gut is feeling somewhat better. Hope that continues. Merry Christmas > >Anybody know the answer to my question?
