HAS ANYONE OUT THERE nOT LOST WEIGHT FROM THE ds AND NEEDED A REVISION I AM

It is FAR too early for you to be worrying about anything like this! Remember that they pump you full of fluid in the hospital so most people actually gain weight while they are there. You have that fluid weight to lose plus your body has to realise that you have had this modification done and then act accordingly. You being stressed about the speed of things will not help at all. Please just relax for the moment and let your body heal, OK?

Start worrying abut a revision in about 24 months-- for now, just relax and heal. And remember sip, sip, sip and be sure to get enough fluid.

Best of luck, ! You will be fine!

,

On my 8th day out of the hospital I had only lost 8 pounds. Other people have said the same thing I am going to say. You are a nurse so you should know this. When you are in the hospital they hydrate you really well. The fluids surround the injured tissues and remain there until the swelling in the tissues start to go down. I have lost a total of 56 pounds as of today and I am not even 3 months out yet. I eat WHATEVER I want, pizza, tacos, etc. Albeit not a lot, one taco is enough, one slice of pizza is enough. The other night I had a dozen medium sized shrimp (no potato or veggie just the shrimp) I dipped them in real butter and shrimp sauce.

You are going to make yourself nuts worrying over this. I put my scales out in my husbands workshop so I would not be tempted to weigh myself everyday. I weigh myself about every 4 days. I used to weigh myself with just my nightgown on but I thought when I go to the doctor I will be fully dressed with my shoes on and everything so I now only weigh myself fully dressed with shoes on and ONLY in the morning.

Having a positive attitude and a worryfree mind will do more for your spirit and your weight loss then pushing yourself to walk 30 minutes in 90 degree heat. What that will do for you is dehydrate you and make you feel like crap.

You will be fine. Just quit worrying so much. If you get constipated drink more fluids and eat soft foods only. Unless you have a lifelong problem with constipation, it will resolve with the administration of extra fluids.

Why don't you write down all the pills you are taking. Maybe something you are taking is the culprit for the constipation.

Dear ,

A day or two after surgery while walking the halls, I hopped on a

scale and to my surprise....I gained 9 lbs. I was devasted. I was

sure I lost at least that much considering the Fleet's bowel prep a

few days before, then surgery, only liquids, etc...

Now I am 7 weeks post op and I have lost 35 lbs. and I eat anything

and everything. At 3 weeks post op I was only down 15 lbs. from my

presurgery weight. After that, my loss has been pretty steady.

Put your scale away (hard I know since I sneak and weigh myself

whenever I can) and concentrate on feeling better. I took the

chewable ADEKs (2) as soon as I got home and they stayed with me very

well. Don't push too hard with walking, etc... If you need to save

your strength for healing, do so. A walking " program " at this point

is not going to make or break you. You have a very long time AFTER

recovery to make this surgery work.

Try blending some yummy protein rich soups like lentil, bean and

bacon, etc... and sip on those. They have substance and are protein

rich. Staying hydrated is the most important. I found that any type

of lemonade went down well. Try bites and sips of different things.

I found when I was newly post-op chinese chicken and broccoli went

down very well. I ate the chicken which is very soft and is in a

sauce and then nuked (to soften) a small bite of a broccoli

flowerette and ate that too. In the beginning remember to take small

bites, eat slow and chew well. Stop after every few bites too.

Pretty soon you will feel great.
