Guest guest
That kind of thing happens to Sheldon often, where his temp will be between 100 and 101 for days. We've never found a cause. Molly has continued to run alow grade temp for over 10 days. She is very tired and has to sleep about every 5 hrs. or so. she has huge dark circles under her eyes and is so pale. Her white cells are not elelvated and has not other sign of infection. Has anyone else dealt with this? She is yet undiagnosed and her primary non mito doc just doens't know what to do. He admits something is wrong but what? I myself went throught this two yrs. ago and made the rounds to infectious disease, rheum and endo docs with nothing figured out. Now I believe mine was autonomic. Is it dangerous? Her normal body temp is under 97 degrees and her temp are now 99.5-101 so this should be considered pretty high right? any advice would be appreciated. Thanks, Dawn Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions. Yahoo! Groups Sponsor ADVERTISEMENT
Guest guest
Dear Dawn, I do not have advice per se, but I will tell you that this happened once to Leanna for about 10 days. It was when she was under severe stress of not having her parents around because we were too busy with her sister Samya as she was dying in the hospital. She never had any other symptoms except a low grade fever every single night. I never even thought about it or did anything because obviously it was not priority. I do know she was not getting enough sleep and was stressed. My theory is that any stress on the body from heat, to lack of sleep etc can cause low grade fevers that thankfully do not always result in crisis. Good luck. Guest guest
The first thing that comes to mind is dehydration. OR Has she started school recently? My 2nd kid runs a low-grade usually starting about the 3rd day of school until about a month into it- his body is adjusting to all those new germs, smells and environmental assaults. I believe he is having some kind of allergy/immune system reaction His regular temp is about 97 also. Benadryl and sleep seem to help. Did she start anywhere else maybe? Have you changed detergents, soaps, shampoo??? New foods? Cindy-GA To: Mito Subject: Fever of 10 days nowMolly has continued to run alow grade temp for over 10 days. Guest guest
Dawn, Is Molly cutting teeth? Chelsea always seems to have a hard time cutting her adult teeth. I see a general worsening of her neuro symptoms. She may not run a fever, but I often see she has red, hot cheeks (also with ear inf.), and she gets lethargic and just acts uncomfortable and agitated. She has reflex epilepsy and will typically have increased seizures and be extremely sensitive to her triggers. I have found ibuprofin to be helpful, and believe it or not, papaya. It has natural pain relieving properties, and does seem to help give her relief. Hope you find a cause for her fever, and can get it under control=) e, Chelsea's mom (nonspecific mito)
Guest guest
Dawn, Audrey also runs a fever quite frequently. Sometimes she is coming down with something and other times she just runs a fever. Her docs can't figure it out either. We just treat the fever because she usually acts like she is uncomfortable. She also gets the very dark circles around her eyes. Monday evening I stopped by to see her before I had to go to work and I told Amie Audrey's eyes looked dark and sunken, sure enough, Tuesday she woke up with a fever. The doc used to always think she had a bladder infection and they would test her and it was always negative, now Amie doesn't take her to the doc unless there are other symptoms. Guest guest
Good Morning Dawn, Before JD was diagnosed with mito, he would do the same thing and like you they would check his white count and since that was normal they questioned the fevers. I began to wonder if I knew how to take a temp. I do know when he runs a temp, it progresses his mito. This is also the reason Dr. Shoffner gives orders to the anesth. to not use gas for the muscle biopsy because that can cause fever and interfere with the results. Dr. Whiteman said it was a good thing that JD did not go to school so he is not exposed to germs as much. He gets a flu vaccine and a pneumoccal vaccine. We try to keep good and bad stress down as much as possible and have his energy paced without excessive exercises. Good Luck, Darlene
Guest guest
This happens to my son all the time. He can go from 95 temp to last week for 7 days he ran 103 temp with no infection. They are telling us it is probably familial dysautonomia. Which means its autonomic problems body can't regulate the hypothalamus in the brain. If u look this disease up on the net the symptoms are very similar to mito. Hope all goes well with you _________________________________________________________________ On the road to retirement?
