Guest guest
Hi all, I just want and need to vent. Dr. Scholten's is the one in network who I choose to go with on the DS. I have Hepatitis C. I had to go to a gastroentrologist and have it checked out. I had none of the symptoms of liver disease. My blood counts were close to normal. The gastroentrologist said, verbally, that if I had a liver biopsy done during surgery, that should be fine. In a letter he wrote to Dr. Scholten, he wrote that it would be something that is recomended. And I had a liver biopsy scheduled, but canceled because of the good blood work. And because the gastro led me to believe I didn't need one prior to surgery. Now the nurse at Dr. Scholten's tells me that I have to have to prove that I am a candiate for surgery. If I have cirrohis of the liver, then I can't have the surgery. Why then, do some doctors feel that it's not necessary? I feel very disapointed, that I have to have this semi serious procedure, even though they perform it doing surgery. Not to mention the fact that the Rouen Y doctor that is my plan " b " is not concerned with my Hepatitis C. I know some of you will say, at least Dr. Scholten is taking extra care etc. But sometimes it seems like they want way too much. Remember he is the guy who says if you don't loose 10% of your excess weight he will refuse the surgery anyway. It feels like I am being punished because of my weight and that unless I can " prove " my worthliness, I won't be able to have the surgery anyway. Needless to say, I am left to wonder if it's all worth it. Sally Preop in Michigan
