Hi Debbie,I too was dx with gastroparesis after months of diarrhea, indigestion, etc. They put me on Reglan (your med). I had problems with side effects though so couldn't take it. I was dx via gastric emptying study.I now eat very small meals and have increased my fiber to 25-30gms a day...stopped my glucovance (diabetic med) last summer and the diarrhea stopped within 24 hours (dr switched me to strictly insulin) so that was the cause of my diarrhea (either the sulfa since I'm allergic to the sulfa in the glyburide or the glucophage which is know to cause diarrhea)...glucovance is a combo of those 2 meds...I don't eat late in the day...I take protonix 40mg every 12 hours. I also hydrate really well. No more episodes of severe reflux. I do keep a bottle of mylanta close in case of emergency but haven't had to use it in a long time. I had an upper gi done and endoscopy. After a Gastro Emptying test last week, I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis. I have researched this on the

web and it describes my symptoms completely. The dr. is starting me on Reglan (meoclopramide). I was wondering if anyone had this diagnosis and how they were treated, results of treatment, etc. I really hope the treatment works because the symptoms have been really awful and have kept me in bed some days for 4 mos or so. (At first my PCP had attributed to the flu, anxiety, etc and kind of ignored me for awhile before sending me to a gastro. dr.) Thanks for any input. Debbie Got a little couch potato? Debbie, we used to have a member who called herself Gastro Debbie & I'm pretty sure that she had gastroparesis. Are they attributing this to your sarc, or is there another possible cause? My daughter Ginny has gastroparesis, along with her chronic pancreatitis, but I've never been clear on which was the chicken & which was the egg. The Reglan worked pretty well for her, but with the pancreatitis they decided she needed a j-tube (feeding tube through the abdomen) in order to rest the pancreas. I've also had good success with Reglan on pregnant moms who are into the second trimester & still having problems with nausea & vomiting. Hope it helps!

Hi, As I just wrote to Rose, I just started on the Reglan too and it hasn't taken care of the nauseau, hence the Mylanta bottle next to med too. I still have the nausea . I was on Protonix but when it didn't help , the dr. prescribed ondansentron (sp?). That helps sometimes , but not completely either. I have read your other hints and will try them. Thanks for your response. Appreciate it. DebbieMac Tosh wrote: Hi Debbie,I too was dx with gastroparesis after months of diarrhea, indigestion, etc. They put me on Reglan (your med). I also failed the gastric emptying business, and have

reflux from the bad place. They had me on the Zelnorm

but I started having syncope again, this is not cool

when you are driving, & I work an hour away from home.

They switched me to Reglan but I could not take it

because of the side affects. Oh well, I hate the way

I feel when I eat, I got some good tips from the

emails you all wrote. No one told me to change the

way I eat. Thanks again...Connie
