Cathy,

I agree, I couldn't lose anything and was eating under 1200 calories a day, then when I got my CPAP machine for my sleep apnea and eating the 1200 calories I did great. Sleep makes a big difference in so many ways. DonnaCathy wrote:

Lucia,If you're working till 1:00 am, and then you're up by 8:00 to get things done around the house, you're not getting nearly enough sleep. And if you're having trouble losing weight, that could possibly be a contributing factor. They've done studies on the relationship between sleep and weight, and those folks who get the least sleep have a much greater tendency to put on weight, to develop diabetes, to have high blood pressure, to get sick, etc. That's one of the reasons they think sleep apnea is implicated in so many of our co-morbidities. . . if your sleep is getting interrupted so much, you're not getting enough rest and you're stressing your body too much.So even if the "Stuff" piles up around the house, GET THAT SLEEP! It may help you lose weight and it will certainly make you healthier and less

stressed. If you feel pressured or stressed out about getting everything done around the houses, you might check out http://flylady.net - a sort of self-help group for those of us who are "organizationally challenged". I really like that "Flylady" puts a lot of emphasis on making small, manageable changes and then building them into routines that change your life a little bit at a time, whether it's beginning to exercise, to clean your house, or to get control of your finances. It's not to everyone's taste, but I enjoy it and you might also. And she keeps reminding people to get enough rest and take care of themselves!Cathy C. >> Thanks Kristie and Donna for your imput regarding my enigma. I go on the 27th to get screened for the apnea. I have a lot of edema in my abdomen and the doctor told me that the CPAP will help get rid of that. So I may have been taking diuretics for years for not reason. I hope it does work.

Did you have any trouble adapting to having the mask on your face?

Pam,

It wasn't the mask so much, but my throat would stick together front to back, this was due to the weight, I had severe sleep apnea, I stopped breathing 44 times a hour. The CPAP helped a so much, but to make it work I had to also have a humidifier for it then that made it work for me and it made me rest easy, get my sleep and help me in weight loss. I'm now off the CPAP and feel great. Donnaazurewinds@... wrote:
