Guest guest
Hi Sue- its the truth it is hard to lose the ten percent, i am sorry you were getting closer and then gained it back, but that is how we all got to the point we did, losing and gaining back, its hard..... I think when your really ready to do it , it just happens and things fall into place for you. what helped me was eating better things, portion control and lots of protien snacks if i had to go off the diet............the protein seems to make you full.................... lots of sugar free jello and sugar free popcycles !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I dont have any magic ideas for you, but dont give up and as far as your timeline, i got approved in June of 2004, and had to wait until the end of october to get my orientation date and then nov 26th or so i was told i had lost enough weight to have surgery, could of had the surgery in dec but for work reasons had to wait until Feb to have my surgery................ there is still time, there is always time out there just waiting to be filled........ perhaps others will have some other information to offer you that might be better, good luck colleen Moniz wrote: Hi I have been in the on-line support group since August, but I admit to listenting a lot more than I share. Guest guest
Oh gosh...I feel your pain. It took me from October 2004 until May 2005 to get my 33 pounds off. I struggled BIG TIME! What finally worked for me (and I tried the Kaiser 1200 calorie diet plan - no luck...Weight Watchers - no luck) was Herbalife shakes twice a day, 2 snacks a day, and one good meal (dinner). Once I stuck to this, I lose the weight in about 6 weeks. I got to my goal weight in May and after I had my case manager meeting, I had surgery less than a week later. How's that for fast? Oh yeah, I drank a TON of water and walked as much as I possibly could. I know it's hard but it is so worth it in the end...I'm just over 4 months out and I've lost 75 pounds since surgery and 111 overall. Woo-hoo! Guest guest
HI Sue What worked for me was using the surgery as my motivator. I wanted this surgery so bad, I was absolutely terrified of not having it. I did Atkins to lose my weight. How I lost my 10% 1. No carbs. 2. No soda, no caffeine, only 0 cal 0 sugar drinks 3. Walked for 30 minutes, nice slow pace..wasnt up to a marathon yet 4. Water Water Water 5. Journalled everything, EVERYTHING I ate. I was amazed at how fast little bites added up!! 6. If I had a hard time, I emailed a buddy with my eating plan. I still do this!! 7. No snacking. If I got hungry I drank water or decaf coffee. 8. I hung motivating comments all over the house. Pick your motivator and use it like a mantra. 7. I started making the changes I would have to follow pre op...like chewing, water, exercise, no sugar, no carbs, no caffeine, protein etc. It made post op easier, not having to make all the changes at once. You can do this. You are worth this!! Huggles > > Hi > > I have been in the on-line support group since August, but I admit to listenting a lot more than I share. Guest guest
> I would maybe mix up the calories. Doing the 1000 everyday might not be enough calories. Your body might be in stop mode not knowing whats coming next. I would try and drink more water that really helps, I always went over the 64 ozs. thing. Get the Crystal Lights on the Go and throw them in your water bottle. Flush your system with water. Are you exercising? Guest guest
I have been stuck as well and darn frusterated. I have tried everything from atkins, cutting fat and fewer calories. I am a great maintainer. However, I have added a protein shake to my afternoons and I am eating more at dinner and since Monday lost 3 lbs. Maybe you are fooling your body into thinking it is starving and you are holding on to the weight. Maybe try varying you caloric intake every day. One day a little more and one day a little less. Keep posting as there are wonderful supporting people here and have been there once before as well. Guest guest
Wow, - you've just outlined what I'm trying to work myself up to! Don't know if I can do it all at once, but the journaling and the " no carbs " are the two things I need to start on IMMEDIATELY. Guest guest
Definitely take it in small baby steps!! Its too hard to do them all at once. Thats how I did it, a little at a time. > > > > > > Hi > > > > > > I have been in the on-line support group since August, but I > admit > > to listenting a lot more than I share.
