Guest guest
Anne, In Ohio we have the home and community based waiver program that does qualify based on the individuals income (for obviously $0). It is her secondary insurance rigth now since her father has to keep the children insured until 18 years of age. The medicaid picks up copays for office vists, Rx, even the remaining cost of her wheelchair. i also have gotten them to cover the children's coq10 (liq10 syrup for and Chew qs for Molly and Drew). It has saved us thousands of dollars every yr. to have this. As far as nursing I don't know. I was an lpn and actually looked at getting my liscence back if I could do this and Ohio wasn't allowing it at the time and legislation was being looked at then. i have not chekced up on it sense. I on the other hand have to pay $400/mo for cobra insurance, all out of pocket expenses for myself and the bill totals approx. $600.00/mo. Now they say I make too much for medicaid (from spousal and child support) but we are in negative numbers every month because there is alot of expense to being chronically ill, as you know! they will make sure my children are covered but not the person who has to be well enough to care for them every day!It would be alot cheaper to cover health care for me then to pay nursing home and hospital costs if something happens to me for my children for the rest of their lives. Hope this helps, Dawn
