Suzanne,

It sounds to me like she may have a viral infection. -Kay will act like this before the 'true signs' of the infection start to show. Keep giving those fluids as already mentioned.

My daughter has Dysautonomia and responds to the high sugar/caffeine types of drink at times like this for example 'Mountain Dew' or 'Red Bull'.

calling experienced parents- mito crash?? active toddler lethargic ...etc..

My 2.5 year old , Zoe, is typically pretty active. She has had some periods around illnesses when she slept more, ate less, maybe seemed weaker or more quiet. This time is different. She seems to be sleepy the whole time she is awake, is whining some, her eyes have been off track a little more , but also closed a bit, like squinting some, she has had several little episodes of sweating and clammy skin, and some decreased appetite. She also has been a little different cognitive wise, like scattered not as quiet and purposeful as she normally is with her vocalizing. She has ear tubes, so I am very sure it is not her ears, and no other symptoms of illness yet.. she has been resistant to using her reverse walker and standing a lot, seems to be shakier and weaker but is not overly lethargic like dehydrated and still is somewhat happy and playful. Has had no exposure to heat or over exertion in the last day or two…

Any ideas or thought to share?? She has a mito diagnosis- type unknown for now…

does this...

exactly what you described...

sweaty, shaky, grumpy, whiney, low grade temp sometimes, sometimes

not, sleeps up to 20 hours a day sometimes, just really really out

of it.

:(

At this point we havent been told to do anything yet... so we wait

it out. We only saw the specialist for the first time 2 weeks ago,

and we go for our preop appt with the surgeon on Monday for his

muscle biopsy, so were not even sure what were dealing with at this

point (althought they are almost certain its mito).

I make sure hes drinking lots, and let him sleep as much as he can,

as i figure he must need it. aside from that, everythings a

bonus... we get alot of cuddle time in (hes 21 months) and hes

usually pretty slowed down for a week or so, but he always bounces

back.

I dont know what were 'supposed' to do yet... our doc just said to

call if we have any questions and it hasnt happened in the past two

weeks since we met her, so we havent had to call yet...

sorry im not help!
