Guest guest
Hello; I'm wondering what your experience has been getting a routine dexa scan test (bone density) after one year. And also follow-up dexa scan's after that. Thank you Ozzie
Guest guest
Ozzie, I have had many bone density test due to my bones where breaking for no reason, and weren't healing, surgeries and screws, on and on. For your answer I wasn't with Kaiser at that time but my PCP had to give me a referral. I do believe if you need a bone density test you would have to get in touch with your PCP at your Kaiser and your doctor would have to refer you, your PCP would determine if you need this or not. Guest guest
I'm just asking the group if they have the Dexa scan on a regulary yearly basis. I'm sure that the PCP doesn't offer the test randomly. But I know that the Dexascan is something that is recommended to WLS patients yearly BEFORE problems arise with bones. I am 2 years out, and have thinning bones. For a male under 50 that's not normal. I'm the one who insisted on having the Dexa Scan test. That's why I'm asking the group if they've been encouraged to get one each year, or if their PCP even mentions that fact.
