Guest guest
Dear Will, I am very happy that I chose Dr. Ren and NYU. Actually, I feel VERY lucky that I did. I answered your questions (most of them) in message# 95238 that I wrote on 6/13/01. Best of luck in your journey. Jane J. > Hi all, > I was hoping all those who had Dr. Ren do their D/S would share the experience. Was it mostly a good experience? Would you do it again with her. > How was the hospital, nursing ,and aftercare? Any info would be appreciated. I'm sure many newbies would benefit. > Thanks, > > Will
Guest guest
Dear Will, I had surgery with Dr Ren on 3/29/01 and am doing wonderfully. I left the hospital on day 3. Have had no problems. Take 2 Dairy care each morning, 2 One-Source for active kids twice a day, 2 tums after each meal, 2 devrom with each meal (that controls odors in your gas and stools) my prilosec every other day (my PCP is weaning me off as I do not have reflux any longer) and my thyroid medicine. I no longer take any blood pressure medicine. I started back to work on the 16th of April (18 days post op) and have played golf since the surgery. I was very tired after the first game and hit the bed at 9:30 but I was up at 6:30 am and ready to go. I feel great. I now play 4-5 games per week. And have cut 10 strokes off my game. I know that not everyone bounces back this well after surgery and I was in surgery for 8 hours. I had adhesions wrapped completely around my duodenum and Dr Ren took 1.5 hours to cut them down and successfully completed my surgery 100% lap. I was in step down (one step down from ICU) overnight because I was in surgery so long but as soon as they put me in another room I was up and walking and got out of the hospital on the 3rd day. I live in Marquette, Michigan so I stayed in NYC for 10 days, got to meet a lot of my friends on the list and took a cruise of Manhatton. Dr Ren is a fantastic surgeon and Gio is the best. Dr Ren just started a new support group. It will beon the 3rd Thursday of every month (June 21st) with the first hour devoted to post-op's and the second hour is for pre-ops and info seekers. It will have a combination of DS and RNY I am sure. NYURUSK INSTITUTE OF REHAB MEDICINE400 EAST 34TH STREETIN ROOM R111CALL AND SPEAK WITH LES GALLO-SILVER, CSW FOR MORE INFO.
