As far as I can tell, they do the sleep apenea test to see what they

will need to do during surgery, ya know, what types of breathing

apparatus you may need. I don't think it is a basis for having

surgery or not. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

I had the sleep study done last fall after having a stroke---they

woke me in the middle of the night because the information on the

monitors during my study indicated that I needed to be placed on the

c-pap. I slept with it the rest of the night. I found out the next

day from my pulmonary doctor that I did have sleep apnea & would be

set up at home with a c-pap. I was discharged from the hospital &

the next night I had my own machine at home. In my opinion & I am no

doctor or sleep study specialist, but if they found a need for the c-

pap during the study..then chances are you will have a diagnosis of

sleep apnea. Sorry, but it is really not so bad once you get used to

the machine at home. It did not delay my surgery..it only caused

them to be prepared for me in recovery & required more attention of

the anesthesiologist.

Good luck & take good care.
