Guest guest
, I hope that this surgery will help with your latest eye problems. Has all your eyesight come back yet or is that what this surgery will attend to? My thoughts and prayers go with you. hugs S. wrote: This message is getting all to familiar with me and I'm not liking it at all.. but next Wednesday Jan 10th I will be having my 3rd eye surgery.. Guest guest
Lynne, in November I Cataract surgery on my Right eye, a few days later I developed a Staph infection, where they took me to emergency surgery on a Saturday, opened my eye and washed it out with a strong antibiotic. From there I was hospitalized for 5 days, where from the Cataract surgery a couple of days later I went blind in that eye.. I do have a little vision after the second surgery, but its like looking though a really thick film and I can't see anything clearly, I can see movement and colors, that's pretty much it.. They are saying I have lots of debrie inside my eye, which is threating to tear my retina.. The debrie floats around gets in front of the retina and I see total darkness.. They injected my eyeball last week with a antibiotic and steriod..(two seperate shots) it helped for a few days, then darkness again. So, the surgery is to reopen my eye and to clean out the debrie that she tried to do before.. Sorry for the long story, and thanks for the Birthday wishes. Guest guest
, Youmight want to consider emailing Dr. at the uveitis forum about your dilema and surgeries, I have found him to be very quick to answer and also, he is a big believer in people with our disease being treated by an ocular-immunologist. He may have one locally for you to visit. I have sarcoid in my one eye and emailed him. He got right back to me.Try askCSF for your search, or ask dr foster. Good luck and Happy Birthday. I lLOVED turning 50!!! Freedom to say, you know what?? I'm 50 and I don't have to give a rat's ass about anything I don't want to anymore. I'll wear what I want, go where I want, dance like a fool... Don't care, don't care, don't care!!! Tah-dah!! Let me know how it goes. Bonnie b.
Guest guest
Bonnie, OMG! Thank you.. I did email Dr and you're right he got right back to me.. and he says my dilemia very easily could be sarcoidosis in my eye causing all this inflammation.. He did give me the names of the medications that would better treat the problem, and Imuran isn't one of the ones he listed and of course that's what I take.. I'm not sure what to do though, I will discuss this with my retina specialist, he says there isn't a Immuno/Opthamologist in Nashville but there is one in Lousiville KY, which is about 3 hours away..If this surgeon is still absolutely sure this surgery is what I need, I will try it one more time, but then if it doesn't work within a couple of days, I'm heading to KY as fast as my little fat legs will carry me. This has made more sense to me than anything that has happened so far.. and my doctors at Vanderbilt are very quick to Poo-Poo Sarcoidosis off as nothing.. I'm gonna start giving lessons in Sarcoidosis 101 myself. Hugs, and a HUGE THANK YOU, -- Re: Eye Surgery , Youmight want to consider emailing Dr. at the uveitis forum about your dilema and surgeries, I have found him to be very quick to answer and also, he is a big believer in people with our disease being treated by an ocular-immunologist. Guest guest
, I am so sorry this is happening. As we all know, most often cataract surgery is a simple procedure. Rarely does anyone develop the types of complications you are having. Know that we are all here for you, and will be checking in with you. Guest guest
Tracie, thanks.. I know this is extremely rare.. I did email this Dr he is head Immuno/Opthamologist at Harvard.. and gave him the load down on what has happened to this point, he seems to think that the inflammation very well can be Sarcoidosis, and I don't think that the doctor's at Vanderbilt are willing to ever say that anything could be sarcoidosis, unfortunately the only Immuno/Opthamologist closest to here is in Louisville Ky, which is about a 4 hour drive.. To top things off I woke up this morning with a sorethroat, sneezing, and the Right side of my sinuses running like a facuet..I guess I'll call in the morning and see that they say about that. They may go ahead and they may have to reschedule. I'll have to admit, I'm a bit scared.. Thanks, -- Re: Eye Surgery ,I am so sorry this is happening.
