Confession time.....

So those of you who pay attention to names may have noticed that I have not

posted any questions in a few weeks. Well, about three weeks ago, after six

weeks on the diet, I went off of SCD. I had lost close to 20 pounds and still

had diarrhea so I became convinced that the diet was not working. BOY WAS I

WRONG! While I did initially have more energy and gained back about 10 pounds on

a traditional diet, the diarrhea has double or tripled in frequency and urgency.

I have begun to have cramping and some blood which I never had before and I am

back to my old sleeping patterns of taking hours to fall asleep then waking up

with bad night sweats. The short time I was on SCD my diarrhea was only two or

three times a day, there was no cramping or blood, it never woke me up and I

slept like a rock for the first time in my life. Needless to say I will be going

back on SCD. I figure at this point I might as well enjoy the holiday meals with

the family and starting after christmas will go back on SCD. I think the biggest

problem for me was that one sentence in the BTVS book where she says that if you

have not noticed improvement after four weeks it is up to you to continue. Well,

I tend to take things literally and was using diarrhea as my only gauge of

success and once I passed the four week mark I sort of gave up hope. Now I feel

as if I have a whole new set of things to gauge success on and this time I am

not going to keep track of how long i've been on the diet. I will just be on it.

I am completely prepared for the " I told you so's "
