Dear ,

While I was searching for surgeons to do my surgery, I also had to

make a choice between NYU & Mt. Sinai (I live in NJ). I choose Dr.

Ren and NYU even though they were " out of network " and Mt. Sinai and

Dr. Gagner were " in network " . I would do it again in a minute.

Dr. Ren was fabulous (she did her fellowship under and was trained by

Dr. Gagner and assisted him in the first Lap BPD/DS that he did). My

lap surgery was done in under 3 hours with only 3 tiny incisions plus

one in my bellybutton (and I had 2 previous c-sections). NYU, the

recovery room nurses, the support staff and it's floor nurses were

fabulous (I had no need for an aide or companion). Dr. Ren's

nutritionist, Barrie Wolfe and nurse practioner Gio Dugay are

wonderful and easily accessible (very important to me). Every call

or e-mail I have made either has a pre-op and as a post-op was

answered in a friendly and timely manner. I never got the runaround

with paperwork or test results. When I was a newbie post-op, I

called Dr. Ren with a non-urgent question and she personally called

me back within 10 minutes and she was in Kentucky at a conference!

My follow-up was great. Dr. Ren takes alot of time with each of her

patients. She really listens to you. My recovery and healing was

swift and uncomplicated. Both in the hospital and at home not only

did Dr. Ren check on me so did Gio and Barrie. NYU also has a

growing friendly support group.

So, the answer is YES to going back to NYU if I had to do it all over

again.
