Hi all,Developed a cold/cough/sore throat. Has gone through my family over the past couple of weeks. All began for me with a sore throat around 10:00AM yesterday. I had already taken my morning Cellcept but didn't take the PM dose. Making sure I take in vitamin C but just wondering how you handle this (used to be simple) with your systems already compromised. My sugars are going up but that is the infection so I compensate with my insulin. I can't decrease the prednisone so remain on that. I did take a flu shot the first week of October. But there are no "flu" type aches. Blessings,Becky __________________________________________________

Becky,

If you are running a fever-- I'd go to a Convenient Care Clinic and see about antibiotics. You don't want anything to take hold-- and end up really sick.

Tamiflu is also a good idea, even if it's just viral. It helps you get over the viruses quicker--if you start it in the first 48 hrs.

Do the normal stuff, fluids, chicken soup, etc.

My MD has me keep an antibiotic on hand, along with the Tamiflu, so that if I show signs of getting sick- I can start on something. (I am doing the Tamiflu right now- cause I do have a virus infection.) The biggest problem is those bacterial infections that can take off in our systems.

Take care of you,

Tracie

Thanks Tracie. Since my email I heard back from my rheum b/c I needed to ask her about the cellcept. She didn't want to start me on an antibx which really surprised me. This thing (probably a bad cold) has made its rounds through our family. I am concerned about my lungs getting slammed since I know the bases are full of nodules. I don't think I can take the tamiflu b/c of the cellcept. But I'm drinking the OJ and keeping hydrated. Dr. C told me to stop the cellcept until better. This is a bad time to be between pcp's. Thanks again.Blessings,Beckytiodaat@... wrote: Becky, If you are running a fever-- I'd go to a Convenient Care Clinic and see about antibiotics.
