Guest guest
Hi Lori, I'm still a pre-op myself (but only for two more days!!) and I don't have a spouse that will be having this surgery (cause he's already skinny!!! LOL!!) BUT................I can certainly understand your concerns. You are absolutely the BEST person to provide for support for him since you've already been there, done that. I was also thinking that it would be a really neat connection to your husband that you will have that the rest of us do not have. Wait, that didn't come out quite right. What I MEANT to say is that this is something that you and your husband will be able to share, and I'd imagine it would create quite a strong bond between the two of you. My husband is a wonderful supportive man, but I know in my heart that there are aspects of this operation that he can't begin to understand. The connection that we all have here on these websites is something that is invaluable to me, and now you will be able to have that same connection with your husband. Does this make sense? I hope so. Of course, it's just my humble opinion. Anyway, congratulations to him for making this decision. Guest guest
Hi all, I had the BPD/DS with Dr. Inabnet on 3-16-01. My dh astonished me a couple of weeks later by telling me that he, too, wanted to have the same procedure. His surgery is scheduled for this coming Friday, 7-13-01. We heard yesterday that BC/BS PPO of PA approved it. I'm curious about how many out there have had a spouse or close relative have the same procedure? I find myself less apprehensive in some ways than I was for my own surgery because I know what to expect (if there are no complications) and then again a bit more apprehensive because I just dread it for my dh (also because I know what to expect!) Does that make sense? Lori B. Dr. Inabnet 3-16-01 Starting weight: 295 lbs. Current weight: 218 lbs. minus 77 lbs. 5'4 "

Guest guest
Pam, You make perfect sense and yes, you are right here! My DH and I are totally connected where the surgery comes in and only he can possibly understand what it was like for me to go thru all of this. As a result, we have gotten much closer than we were before surgery.
