Guest guest
This should be a straight forward appointment. My son has had many trips to the audiologist (he’s completely deaf). There is nothing to worry about and nothing to prepare for. This will be an easy appointment. It’s one of those things that you just want to keep an eye on. Sue Ann Question - Audiology Appt.? Hi all, Asher is going for his first Audiology appointment tomorrow. This was recommended as a yearly thing by Shoffner when he dx the Complex III defect and possible Complex I defect. Is there anything I need to know before we go? I'm so used to doctors not knowing what to look for, but this seems so straightforward, right? I mean, they are just checking his hearing, right? Any other things I should know, please tell me. Anne R Please contact mito-owner with any problems or questions.
Guest guest
Anne, I would make sure they do an ABR test in additon to any OAE and booth testing they may do. My son has Auditory Neuropathy, which is very common with mitochondrial disorders, but is very often misdiagnosed as normal hearing with central processing issues. So if they tell you the booth test and OAE tests are normal, he could still have a hearing loss...make sure an ABR is done at the same time. -----Original Message-----From: AReckling@...
