So, after experimenting for the past week, the yogurt or hard cheese definitely gives me B and a tiny amount of mucus.B is almost totally gone after two more days of no dairy. I'm supplementing with 6 oz. of prune juice a day, plus 8-10 glasses of water,

and that is helping my C as well.*Sigh*, as much as I like cheese and yogurt, my body doesn't seem to at the moment. I'm reading up on making nut milk yogurt now with the GI Pro-health non-dairy starter and

taking the GI Pro-health SCD probiotics until I can get some of the starter.Have any of you experienced casein intolerance? Did it go away after more healing? On the SCD site, Elaine said it was a symptom of a leaky gut and may go away eventually as the gut heals.

In my case, I developed a casein sensitivity after 8 months of eating dripped yogurt regularly, in my early days on SCD. I wasn't consuming much yogurt; about 1/4 c. every other day or so. I wasn't eating cheese at the time, either. I wasn't too surprised, as I'd been dealing with extensive food sensitivities for more than a year and it had taken my body 4 months to adjust to yogurt. I was disappointed, though.

Unfortunately this sensitivity hasn't disappeared the longer I've been on SCD. I use a probiotic supplement. Most of my other food sensitivities have cleared up, and my other major sensitivity to beta carotene (orange veggies like carrots) is controlled as long as I wait 5 days between servings. But any dairy (yogurt or cheese) has me reacting with hives followed by severe joint pain, accompanied by my chronic upper GI symptoms.

So I use a probiotic supplement. I can use butter, as it contains little casein, mostly fat. I have to keep the amount of butter low because of my upper GI intolerance to fats, so my immune system doesn't react.

Most food sensitivies do clear up the longer you're on SCD. But sometimes our bodies have other ideas about certain foods [sigh].
