Guest guest
www.virtualhometown.com/dfwcfids/archive Although I have no personal experience with these, I worked in the dental field for many years before staying home with the kids. It all depends on what you are using the appliance for, as to how well it will work for you. The appliances that are used to treat TMJ problems do really work, IF they are closely monitored by a dentist experienced in this type of treatment. I have personally gone through TMJ treatment and found it to be successful, for pain reasons. If you are looking to an appliance for sleep apnea, I would not get your hopes up too high. They will realign your jaw, to give a better airway, but it will not be a comfortable position. They are also very expensive, about 3000 dollars and no insurance covers them that I am aware of. Also if it is a child, they will grow out of it about every year. I personally do not know of one reputable dentist that even offers this type of treatment, for apnea alone. Also, the dentist I worked with for many years slept with a C-Pap machine everynight. He had no concern even trying this. Best wishes.
