<< Next month I have a consultation with Dr. Gagner. I would like to know

what are the steps after this consultation to actually getting a date

for surgery? Should I schedule an upper endoscopy soon after the

consultation? WHat about the blood tests? Are the tests required

before surgery different for everybody? How long will I have to wait?

Hi ,

After you meet with Dr. Gagner they will give you a list of three things

that need to be done prior to sending in their letter to the insurance

company. upper endoscopy, psych evaluation, and if i remember correctly a

blood test to check out your thyroid. I also needed a letter from my

physician.

Once you get the approval you wait for your pre testing date where again

they are going to give you a whole battery of blood tests needed, cardiogram

is needed, and you talk with an anaesthesiologist. You can have them done at

Sinai or someone where of your choice and have it faxed over. I preferred

doing it done through Sinai...didn't want to take any chances.
