Guest guest
Hi Carole, The answer to your question is " It varies. " It will depends upon whether your company's policy has a " pre-existing condition " clause. This would mean they would not cover something you have already been receiving treatment for. Most of the time these clauses have a time limit on them, I think, like 12 months or so. After that time of being covered under their policy, then you would be free to seek treatment for whatever condition you have. Many times group policies do not have a pre-existing condition clause, or they may waive it if you are willing to stay in-network. You need to obtain and read the fine print of the policy. You should also check to see if there are any exclusions for weight loss surgery. You can ask your benefits coordinator at your company or the insurance co's contact person. But, I would hold off telling anyone why you are inquiring at this point. I wish you the best of luck and success. Congratulations on your new job and health coverage! That alone is a big accomplishment! Terri Hassiak BMI 60 http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/profile.phtml?N=H980366398 Appealed " Out-of-Network " Ins. Denial - AND WON!!!
