Guest guest
This operation is a tool and all tools have to be used properly in order to work well. I am already in therapy myself because I cant begin to imagine the changes and feelings as I lose weight. I think this needs to be a total lifestyle change and with the changing of my body needs to come some changing of the brain!!! ~~* AJ *~~ BMI 59 Surgery date 7/24/01 going self pay - Dr Baltasar Spain Check out the Bellingham Support for WLS WWW.lookin2bthin.homestead.com

Is the patient fully informed? Does the patient completely understand what can happen to him/her? Is the patient prepared to accept the reponsibility for the possible undesired outcomes this surgery can bring?< I'm sure that most doctors discuss this with patients, the problem comes with some patients who will nod and say they understand at the right times, but when they leave the office they disregard everything. They will swear later that the doctor never said anything, even if they signed a disclosure statement. They are ones who go into this operation with totally unrealistic expectations. They have this unrealestic idea that they will wake up after the operation skinny, all their problems gone and they will have a wonderful life after. (this is a little exaggerated but not too far off the mark) As for a pyche exam, each doctor has their own requirement. I was under therepy so my doctor accepted my therepist's letter. Some doctors insist on a special pysche exam with their pick of doctor. Their pychologist will look for certain things in the exam, but a lot a people can fool even a good pychologist in a single meeting. These people aren't trying to fool the pychologist, they just want to give the " right " answers because they are sure if they have this operation all their problems will be over.
