Guest guest
Thanks for the information . Yes I'm on prednisone and metho. Yes it is hard trying to keep up with everyone's meds. I have a hard enough time keeping up with my own. First thing in the morning I put them in a divider case for the day so I can remember what I have taken and what I have to take when. I can't remember from one minute to the next but it has improved since I'm on Evoxac. I showed the Therapist my list of meds and she said she would just make a copy instead of writing them all down lol. My arms and shoulders are also weak. More on the right side than the left. Love, Ann Re: update In a message dated 11/28/01 3:47:27 PM Pacific Standard Time, mokie@... writes: Ann, my muscles are like this all over... arms, legs, neck etc... Guest guest
Hi Heidi, Lucy here, you are talking about the good things happening and I want to share with the group that I am only on Dapsone and have not had a real "flare" in a good while. I have only had the respiratory problems like sinus infections, etc. You are all correct about RP. It is a very unpredictable disease and can be related to so many other conditions. I can name about 10 or more things that I can relate RP to over the years. I will close for now. We must all stick together, I don't really have a Dr. that knows much about RP and I only see her once every 6 months and that is only a fifteen minute session. My GP says that what I am taking for the sinus/Asthma thing is doing as much as what a Pulmonalogist would give me other that a bunch of tests. So, there you are, what should one do when your only Dr. has an attitude like that? Much love to all and Prayers too, Lucy -- update Hi Mrs. Nosey here !!!!! Thank you so much for letting us know your good news. Yes RP can be the pits at time. But as you know miracle do happen. While you where on no mail we had another Miracle here. Lierman got her Voice back after not being able to talk for years. Wow !!! So you just hang in there, you come a long way and you will get better even more. Talked to Janet : She said she will try and do a post tonight. She has been really busy. Her Sister did die in Oct. Pete made the surgery ok. I will let you all read her mail to find out the details. OK : She just got back from Mich. yup, that girl went with her hobby up there for a week. She is amazing wow. She also is now 1 month smoke free. !!!!!!!!! Go Girl !!! Ben her husband also quit with her. In Jan. will have to have surgery on her eyes. Plus right now she is having a hell off a time moving her hands. So she ask me to please keep her in your Prayers and she will get on line as soon as she can. Dan : Ok this Ornery one , will get a swift kick in the butt when I will meet him. LOL He send me a letter today true slow snail mail and guess what he send me ????? Yup a bunch of peanut Butter recipes!!!!!!! LOL Ja I did call him and told him what he got coming from me. heheheh. He is doing ok . But has a lot of problems sleeping right now. He is staying with one of his Daughters while he is recouping. He ask me to tell you all Thank you so much for all the cards. He loves you all and misses you all. He will do a post as soon as he can get to a putter. OK . T had the painter in her house and tonight she is sick from all the fumes. Gee that painter took forever to get done. bless her heart hope she will be better by tomorrow. That new shoot for her sugar is really neat, Yup, she is now on insulin .I guess I have to go back over there and sing some more for her if she does not hurry up and fell better soon. LOL Some day I am going to record it and you all can buy it at your drugstores under " Laxatives " LOL After you listen to that you will never have a problem again . hehehehehe . Ok that's all folks for now. I think the phone bandit has some more calls to make. till later be good OK. Remember take your Medicine and Vitamins on time everyday like you should so that you can get the RP in a sleeping mood. The kids are most likely thinking this is fun...a change for them & having you all to themselves. When my hubby traveled (allot) they would ask for the craziest dinners too. bob had a regular routine with meals etc. From his long time service life routines. BUT--It really did work out better for me to, with 5 wee ones so close ...ANYWAY----Have a good week. As yet I haven't heard from him. The kids got up at 6am so I could get everything ready for school this morning. usually does the physio, so I am hating that. Yesterday I spent the day ironing school uniforms so there was enough for the whole week. We were so organised today that I have even had time to come on-line before school. Next week may be a different story. On Friday night we are going to the Make-A-Wish Ball. Then we are staying in a 5 star hotel. It will be so nice. Guest guest
Nortriptyline (nor trip' ti leen) Brand name(s): Aventyl; Pamelor Why is this medication prescribed? Nortriptyline, an antidepressant (mood elevator), is used to treat depression. This medication is sometimes prescribed for other uses; ask your doctor or pharmacist for more information. How should this medicine be used? Nortriptyline comes as a capsule and an oral liquid to take by mouth. It is usually taken three or four times a day and may be taken with or without food. Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand. Take nortriptyline exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. Continue to take nortriptyline even if you feel well. Do not stop taking nortriptyline without talking to your doctor, especially if you have taken large doses for a long time. Your doctor probably will want to decrease your dose gradually. This drug must be taken regularly for a few weeks before its full effect is felt. Other uses for this medicine Nortriptyline also is used occasionally to treat panic disorders, chronic pain, premenstrual depression, and some skin conditions. Talk to your doctor about the possible risks of using this drug for your condition. What special precautions should I follow? Before taking nortriptyline, tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to nortriptyline or any other drugs. tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to sulfites; some preparations of nortriptyline contain sodium bisulfite. tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription drugs you are taking or have taken within the last 2 weeks, especially anticoagulants [warfarin (Coumadin)]; antihistamines; antipsychotics; cimetidine (Tagamet); estrogens; levodopa (Sinemet, Larodopa); lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid); MAO inhibitors [phenelzine (Nardil), tranylcypromine (Parnate)]; medication for high blood pressure, seizures, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, asthma, nausea, colds, or allergies; methylphenidate (Ritalin); muscle relaxants; oral contraceptives; quinidine (Quinidex); sedatives; selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem); sleeping pills; thyroid medication; tranquilizers; and vitamins. tell your doctor if you have or have ever had glaucoma, an enlarged prostate, difficulty urinating, diabetes, seizures, an overactive thyroid gland, or liver, kidney, or heart disease. tell your doctor if you are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while taking nortriptyline, call your doctor immediately. if you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking nortriptyline. you should know that this drug may make you drowsy. Do not drive a car or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. remember that alcohol can add to the drowsiness caused by this drug. tell your doctor if you use tobacco products. Cigarette smoking may decrease the effectiveness of this drug. What should I do if I forget a dose? If you take several doses per day, take the missed dose as soon as you remember it and take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Guest guest
Hi in Hawaii! Thought that I would answer you seeing that I was mentioned in your post, although I am not familiar with your history. Because what you briefly mentioned sounds similar to my situation (an acute attack of pancreatitis a few years ago with subsequent, unrelieving pain) I am wondering if you mind telling me a little more about how you developed CP, what efforts you made to get to a diagnosis and what finally convinced your doctors and yourself that CP was the correct one? I know that I am being selfish by using other people's sufferings to benefit me - so please understand that I sympathize with you!. I am hoping, though, to someday return the favor: To be able to help someone else through my frustrating and often agonising experiences of the last three years. I am not familiar with nortryptiline but was taking elavil like another person mentioned. It too gave me good sleep but when I stopped taking it, I had unbelievably bad nightmares the first two weeks off from it. And I wasn't taking that much to begin with: aobut 12.5 mg every night. But when I did take it, ohhhhh the warm and fuzzy sleep that I had! laurie
Guest guest
Ruby, I am so sorry that Floyd has had such a horrible stay at that one hospital. I would certainly see about possible legal action you could take against that nurse who gave him meds in his tube after being specifically told not to. If she can't follow a doctor's instructions she really shouldn't be a nurse. Just my personal opinion there. Why didn't they have him on IV feeding if they weren't giving him even ice chips or sips of water (called NPO by nurses). I am always on an IV if I am NPO. The body just can't handle not getting some sort of fluid. Kimber -- Kimber Vallejo, CA hominid2@... I intend to spend today disinfecting my home with lysol and bleach and hoping that this is over for us. Oh, and just for fun, we had our family reunion, 25-30 people, in the 3 days after Christmas. What were we thinking? ! 13lbs, 11 oz. Oh, my gosh! Who would have thought it just a few weeks ago. I am so impressed with him and with what Dr. H can do for a kid. Way to go Jodi R.! Way to go, ! I looked at Immi's photos. What a beautiful kid. I love the way her mom talks about her, too. She is so witty and the love she has for her just shines through her words. Anyway, it is on to the new year! I think I will spend a few minutes in the next day praying that each of us have a happy year filled with progress, GROWTH , and health for our kids. And that each of us have the strength and good health ourselves to keep on fighting and working for these kids and their siblings. I think I will also pray that Dr. Harbison be blessed with the things she needs to keep on going and working and blessing RSS kids.
