Actually, an EXTREMELY important question. After the DS our bodies don't absorb protein as well as they did before the DS. So we have to eat proportionately more protein (forever) in order for our diet not to be protein-deficient, which would cause us to lose muscle mass along with fat. Losing muscle mass is bad for two reasons. First, it's bad because the lower your muscle mass, the fewer calories you need to burn every day, and thus the less you can eat. More important, however, is the fact that the heart is just a big ol' muscle. So, losing muscle mass causes your heart to be weakened. The reason this issue is discussed so much, I think, is just that it is difficult during the first several weeks post-op to eat or drink enough of ANYTHING, because your stomach feels kind of like it's been through a saw mill. But after two or three months, the problem really fades, for most people at least. All-in-all, it's a very legitimate concern, but nothing to be scared about.
