Welcome!

First of all, not everyone " loses " their hair. (No one has ever

gone bald from WLS.) At about 3-4 month post-op, it CAN (for some)

thin out. (You'll notice it in your brush and shower drain.) It

grows back. I've head that zinc and vitamin E are good for hair

cultivation, but whether they're any real help, I couldn't say.

(They should both be in the mega-multivitamin you take.)

The water thing was the hardest behavioral change I had to adapt

to. Kaiser's rule is to stop drinking 10 minutes before meals and

not to drink for an hour after. Think of your new stomach as a

sink. filling it with protein will give you a feeling of fullness.

(Your stomach's stretch receptors are at the top, where the pouch is

created.) Drinking with meals just washes the food down the

disposal. You don't experience that full feeling for very long (if

at all) and that could lead to eating more than you need, to lose or

maintain your weight.

> Hi I'm very happy to join a group that has gone and is going

through the gastric bypass. My name is Sherrie and I am 33. I just

got approved to have the surgery done. Although my BMI is 35.4 at

5'3 I am lucky that I didnt have to loose any weight before my

surgery. I have diabetes that is uncontrolled. My father died from

diabetes complications a few years ago. My husband and my family

are not too happy in me doing this, but its because they only hear

the horror stories behind this. Little by little they are more

understanding. I am so excited to be approved and given this chance

to in a way start over. The only thing that Im worried about is

loosing my hair. I understand that your hair can fall out or become

very thin. Now I already have thin hair (the only thing I can say is

thin lol!) So I've already started on taking B-12. I've stopped

drinking soda, and caffeine and cut back on my sugar intake. I want

to make it alittle more easier to cut it now. I want to know how hard

> is it after the surgery to really stop yourself from wanting the

foods you ate before that you cant eat. What do you guys do to stop

that craving? I also love to ice tea...being diabetic Im always

thirsty and I understand that you have to wait to have alittle bit

of water after your meal? Thats gonna kill me! Please give me any

advice.
