Guest guest
So we dont have a diagnosis yet. we go for our muscle biopsy preop on monday. but according to all the bloodwork and scans, they are pretty confident BRAndons (21 months) problems are mito. This past week hes been miserable. i mean MISERABLE. he is clearly hurting. he is completley happy laying down in his crib, sitting in his high chair, or sitting on my lab getting his legs rubbed.... otherwise hes mostly a complete bear. I gave him motrin yesterday finally just to see if it was a pain issue, or just 'terrible twos', and it made a HUGE difference. he was a new baby. completely and totally happy. so im certain hes hurting, and im pretty sure its mostly his legs. I talked to the doc today, and she said given that his CK enzymes are high, it stands to reason that he likely has sore muscles (equivelent to the 'aches and pains' you get with the flu). BUT she said we shouldnt use motrin unless he has a high fever (his temp has been around 101 wich for him isnt high at all). So I know alot of you deal with this, Im wondering what 'non medicine' ways you have of dealing with sore muscles/joints, particularily in young children... i can only give him so many leg rubs and warm baths... any advice?? I hate the idea of him wandering around in pain all the time.... Keely
Guest guest
Because of s fevers, we use motrin quite often, so they dont want us using it unless is a dire need (we only use it if his fevers get over 103)... as their worried about kidney or tummy problems (I have kidney damage from overuse of ibuprofen as a teenager). I talked to our pharmacist, and he said we could try A535, so were giving it a shot tonite... see if it helps at all... > Did they say why not to use the Motrin? I can understand not over using it, > but if it helps why not. Grace also gets a lot of leg pain. Guest guest
Keely, Max is most of the time is in a lot of time , specially in her ankles, even more so at night. We have always done Motrin and also found that icing helps. max does have orthodics, however, it does not seem to take the pain away. things got definately easier for us when Max started to talk and could tell us about her pain. Not that it made her pain any less. regards, rosy, mum to max
