Guest guest
Hi, Just a thought - are any of the docs considering subq gamma? It's IVIG but not through the IV, rather it's small subcutaneous needles under the skin. It's fairly new in the US (a few years old) but very popular way of giving gammaglobulin in Europe. It's what I do and it's works wonderful for me. No side effects. The only drawback for kids is having to give them the small needles a couple times a week. You can look it up on the Primary Immune Deficiency website. Anne R
Guest guest
We were told that a low IGG just ment our son had allergies. Please tell me if this is totally incorrect and we need to see new doctors. Guest guest
Geri-Ann, numbers are low enough to treat with IVIG but mine were borderline. Since i showed good reaction to immuninizations they put me on a one day antibiotic-bactrim. I just take on pill a day. If I don't take it or miss a couple of days I immediately get sick. It has definaltey helped me alot. Last yr. I was sick about 9 out of 12 months and so far this yr. I have yet to have serious cold. Hope this helps, Dawn
Guest guest
A high IgE means allergies. A low IGG means the body has a low defense for fighting infections. If you go to the Primary Immune Deficiency website it will give you background info on the different parts of the immune system. Hope this helps. Sorry if it means another doctor visit. Guest guest
Dawn, I knew you would be the first to respond ! So in a sense, taking the antibiotics does boost your immune system. Thanks for the answer. Hopefully he will feel overall better. Geri-Anne and Wyatt, Complex I > Geri-Ann, > > numbers are low enough to treat with IVIG but mine were > borderline.
