Guest guest
Hi all, I know that other people have written about children having strokes and/or 'brown-outs' and regressing and losing function... and then sometimes regaining function. I understand how that happens (I think) with things like speech and motor development, but I'm confused about how that works with organ systems, specifically the gastro-intestinal system. Has anyone experienced these systems working well again? Asher clearly can only digest Alimentum (pre-digested baby formula) well (without all the dysmotility symptoms) and it's only this formla through a g-tube that keeps him getting enough nutrition to thrive. In addition, he is only able to have a bowel movement (no matter how soft!) if he is given a suppository. At this point, we have exhausted all the medical procedures/medicines we are willing to give a try, and I'm really just looking to find out if any of you have experienced a gradual improvement in digestion and intestinal motility. Or, is once this system is damaged, that's it - it can't come back.... Any thoughts?
