Guest guest
Thanks. I was wanting to try apples dried, but wanted some advice/suggestions beforehand. I've been on the diet since the middle of last month. I didn't realize dried apples were advanced. I sometimes crave apples. I know I cannot tolerate red apples at all, but I have been able to tolerate green, but now they cause problems. I've eaten them peeled and raw or cooked in the crockpot (applesauce) and they still bother me. It's worse in the mornings. I tried pearsauce too, and it did the same thing - caused uncontrollable gas and D. Even apple juice causes a problem, so I know apple cider would, too. Strawberries, blueberries and peaches (cooked or raw) don't bother me, but blackberries and raspberries do. Could it be just a frame of mind? I don't know. It seems that the foods that are starchy, even in the least bit, are the ones that bother me so much. Thanks for your help! I do know, however, that dried fruit, such as dried apples, are considered advanced. They can be hard on the gut to digest. I don’t remember how long you’ve been on the SCD. Are you trying the homemade applesauce? Have you tried making pear sauce? Or have you tried cooked berries? If the applesauce is bothering you then pull it from your diet and maybe try it again farther down the road. Some people report that sensitivities to certain foods go away after being on the diet for awhile. However, I haven't tried them dried. Does anyone know, typically, if one has a problem with a particular food that's cooked or raw, would one have the same problem if the food is dried,? That can often be the case. BTW, I tolerated very little fruit in my early days. And if you read BTVC, you'll note that Elaine recommended avoiding orange juice in the morning because it could cause issues. I found that anything fruit or high carb in the morning could trigger issues. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
