Guest guest
Hi Carol: > So, Tom, what is your average day like now with the DS? I can't really answer that question, because except for trying to make sure I eat 100 grams of protein, I really don't keep track of much else. I avoid concentrated sugars, and I track my fluid intake by the color of my pee -- if it's pale, I know I'm doing okay, if it gets yellower, I drink more water. Other than that, I eat whatever I want. Heck, monday was my birthday, so to splurge a bit I had pizza, REAL coke, (had to shake the fizz out), and cake with frosting. And no, it didn't slow down my weight loss, as far as I can tell. > And you mean we Don't have the option > of getting fat again with the DS? Well, I suppose it's possible, but you'd really have to TRY pretty hard, I think. (Unless you are one of those extremely rare people whose intestines can adapt to just about anything.) I think that you could get fat again if you really wanted to, but you'd have to eat large amounts of straight sugar all day every day. And when I say straight sugar, ice cream, most candy, etc., just aren't going to cut it, because they get most of their calories from fat, which we malabsorb. I'm trying to think of something you could pig out on with enough sugar but low fat, but I can't come up with anything except cotton candy. (Can you imagine eating twenty or thirty or fourty bales of cotton candy a day for months on end?) I'm stuck. Anybody else have any comments? HAPPY BIRTHDAY, TOM!!!! to quote a from song I learned from friends at the Ren Faire: (sung to a dirge like tune) " May the candles on your cake burn like cities in your wake. Happy Birthday. " May you have many more birthdays even thinner than you are now!
