Guest guest
Or AT LEAST put something in the subject line that says that's what your post is all about. Theresa posted last week asking that religious discussions be taken off list if some may remember. Personally I don't mind if a discussion stays on list but I can't relate " here's something for ya " to " I'm going to talk about god throughout this whole post " so please - mark your posts " Religious " if that's what you're going to talk about. As far as who is healing our clubfoot babies... it's the casting, the brace, the parents and the doctors. These feet don't heal or correct on their own and no amount of prayer or any god can fix them either. But YOU, your Doctor and our wonderful Dr. Ponseti can. If you're going to shout praises for much of anything here let's shout praises for Dr. Ponseti because without him all of us, and I mean ALL of us would have our children in surgery. Guest guest
I didn't mean to offend all the people who don't believe in miracles nor did I think it would cause a problem. I had seen many post about God previously. AND Kori, I am a Preacher's Kid too and feel that I can talk about whatever I want. So, I will leave this group. Evidently it's not what I thought it was. I thought it was a place where we could come and be encouraged and talk about whatever we wanted. To make friends with other moms out there who had the same issues as me. I only said that I believe in miracles and wanted to know others inputs. I Didn't know that it would offend. Furthermore, if it did I would assume that others would simply not reply or overlook that post. I didn't know I had to " classify " myself in a free forum of OH NO, she's talking about God so we don't wanna look at that. Regardless, GOD Bless you all. Guest guest
, The list owner asked these posts be taken off list last week. All I really needed was to be told it was a religious post in the subject line so I could look over it if I wanted. This is a free world, and a free list. And those who aren't interested in going on and on about religion or reading such posts should be able to say we don't want to see it and please make the subject lines appropriate. Just about ALL public forums like this one have these kinds of rules, if you've been online long enough you know people who talk religion all the time need their own lists to do so on because the world is not only Christians and our list is open to anyone of any nationality. Sorry you got offended but it was asked that this not be on the list and it just came up again like the list owner's request meant absolutely nothing. We aren't interested in having anyone leave, just keep your religious stuff to yourself or you religious lists or AT LEAST make the subject line appropriate. If you want people to overlook your post don't leave a subject line that says nothing about what the post is about. That's all anyone is asking. Not that you leave. Guest guest
, I would really hate to see you leave over this, especially when feelings are hurt we are encouraged to forgive and let go. Your post was exactly what I needed this morning, you were excited and wanted to share and it grabbed me out of that pit of worry that I find slippery once in awhile and I needed that support. So I thank you. I really would hate to lose you on this group. Lord bless you, > > Or AT LEAST put something in the subject line that says that's > what your > > post is all about. Guest guest
, please don't leave the group. Let's not cut off our nose to spite our face. I really encourage and invite you to stay - it truely is a wonderful place to find hope, encouragement, advice, to vent, to share joy......as it relates to our cf babies. But with all that said, while we may mention God on occastion in a post related to our cf children, (Thank God......Keep your faith in God.....God has blessed us, etc.) this is not a " Free Forum " , it's a club foot forum. Your post did not offend me, in fact I replied to it - but yes I can see it offending others, for various personal reasons. I can respect that and I apolgize to those we did offend, truely. Another risk is this - should a new parent come to this group seeking answers and opens up to find countless messages related to a hundred things besided club foot, they will likely not take the group serious, they may leave to find a group that " talks about club foot " and sadly, that group most likely won't be non-surgical & Dr. Ponseti. They may not have the time or temperment in their situation to weed through the non-cf topics to find the cf topic/help they need desperately at that given moment. In short: We have a responsibility to those parents and children to be what they need when they need it as it relates to the treatment of their cf babies. True, we've discussed breast feeding a lot - but in regards to how we can manage to nurse a baby with the DBB on, for example. Recently toilet training was a topic - but again, it was directly related to how to travel three days to the doctor for a cf appointment when the baby is only partially trained or in the training phase. We've discussed beds and sleeping arangments - but they all circle back around to making a cf baby comfortable and safe while wearing casts or a DBB. A while back we got in to a discussion about breast size and a particular TV show and that was inappropriate for this group yet it seemed to offer at that particular moment some much needed comic relief for a little while. Technically, we were bad ugly dogs for doing that - but by the same token, hey - it happened and we'll do better next time, eh? I am guilty of the very thing others here just complained about - getting off topic - and to all of them, I do apologize and respect your concerns and opinions. This site is dedicated to the treatment of cf via the Ponseti Method. Being friends is great, and it's wonderful we feel like friends, so as a friend, I ask you to stay around for the good you can do others and the good some may do for you in regards to cf. Most Sincerely, ee Please take religious discussions off list Or AT LEAST put something in the subject line that says that's what your post is all about. Guest guest
Sorry to be a day late. I just want to say that I enjoy the off topic conversations on this board. Sometimes it is enjoyable to hear people talking about other things. Sometimes I skim through them after reading the first few posts. Sometimes it takes the first few posts to know what the conversation is about. I think that a few off topic discussions are a good thing...especially to a new clubfoot parent. It helps to cheer us up and relax our mind, especially when things aren't going the best with our children's feet. It helps us to get to know each other. There have been more off topic posts over the last few months, but also more new members too. If people only email off topic things to each other off board, then people may not realize how much they have in common other than clubfoot babies. It helps to build trust and community here, those things are no less important than the discussion of our children. Just like pictures, we don't always send pictures to show the feet, lots of time we send them just to show off. Nothing wrong with that ;-) God, Allah or whatever diety someone wanted to discuss, I would be respectful. No one is trying to convert or knock anyone or preach any one thing here. If someone doesn't like it then don't read it. That IS freedom. Anything more than borderlines censorship, IMO. Also, in the future, it might be helpful to email the offending person via their private email. I felt like the person who first brought up religion was being called out and can completely see why she became defensive. How humiliating it must be to be told " to take it elsewhere, " in front of everyone... Just my opinion. Freeman P.S. While it is in the subject list, I am a Christian and I thank God for giving Dr. Ponseti such a wonderful gift and for giving me such a beautiful little girl on a daily basis. Guest guest
Since I'm the one who started this I apologize to the list. I shouldn't have left the subject line as it is because as I said in the original post because that's not what I really wanted. (that posts be totally gone from here) I don't particularly care if the off topic discussions stay on list however I do want to be able to tell what a thread is about before I decide whether or not to read it. These posts came through very Christian (as opposed to general spirituality) with a few responses the same and since there had been a very recent admin post asking that the discussions be taken off list I decided to post to the list itself for everyone to see. It just seemed that the admin. post was completely disregarded and that frustrated me. I assumed that since had asked the discussions be taken off list that we were to abide by that request. It felt to me like the whole list needed a reminder that when a moderator asks the list for something that we should at least try to follow that request. I was not one of the people who emailed her about this in the first place although I do agree it should be kept to a minimum as all off topic posts should on a specialty list like this. I am not usually a big complainer and I don't like censorship. I only really care that the subject lines are appropriate for the post so I know what I'm about to read. I skipped a lot of the most recent OT posts because I didn't have time then to stray with this list. However the big boob one sounded interesting and I may still go back and peruse the posts someday. And I will be able to find it easily because the subject line is pretty clear. Which of course brings me around to the fact that I messed up big time initially because this subject line *wasn't* really appropriate for my original post at all was it? My mistake and I apologize. No offense meant toward anyone who wants to express any kind of spirituality. Really very sorry I wasn't more clear. I haven't been able to get online enough to type this till now, had a very busy weekend here and I posted and ran on Friday and just really got back. Hugs to everyone :~} Kori (debated big time whether or not to change the subject line here or not lol)
