We had this problem also so... we took receiving blankets and made " cushions "

for each of the bars in the lower half of the bed. We cut them in strips, took

fluff and cut them slightly smaller and then spray adhesived the fluff to the

blanket. Then we wrapped them around the bars and velcroed them to each bar.

It was a pain but it worked. Sometimes she gets past the padded parts. But

overall it works.

Sleeping with DBB

Hi there,

I have just joined this group. we have a beautiful baby boy, Harvey,

who is nine months old. Plasters and heel-cord surgery have been a

success.

Harvey hasbeen , in the past 5-6 weeks, rolling over in bed at night.

With the DBB on he bangs in to hiswooden cot making a loud noise

which invariably wakes him from his sleep.

We have been transferring him in the middle of the night to a port-a-

cot but this is less than ideal.

Any thoughts suggestions would be appreciated.

Is he sleeping well once he gets into the portacrib? If so, why not

take the crib down and replace it with the portacrib? Just a thought.

I have to admit, this has come up before and it just kinda stuns me.

We have a 15 month old, long boy who is still in his crib and bumps

once in a while, just never seems to bother him, course he just

started sleeping through the night completely and consistently the

past week and a half, but I can't fathom a child younger not fitting

well in the crib.

Welcome, you've come to the right spot for q's and a's!

congratulations on your boy! How wonderful and fun they can be, most

days...LOL!

Congratulations on sucess with the casts. I am not suffering yet with a rolling

child, but some of the other parents will chime in soon to give you some ideas.

Best,

e... We have an 11 month old in the DBB's and have lowered his crib

matress as he knows how to stand up in it now. We decided to leave the bumpers

on (although doctors usually say to take them off once they know how to move

around the crib) and this keeps him from banging into the wood on the crib and

waking him up. He moves around a lot at night and doesn't really wake himself

up. Hope this helps.

My son isn't rolling yet, but one idea could be padding the bar. Lots

of moms on the board do it, I think it would soften the noise of a

padded DBB then a non-padded one. Just an idea other then bumper pads

and homemade crib bar pads. I don't have a bumper pad on my son's

crib because he got his face stuck under it and started to suffacate

so I won't put it on anymore so that's why I think a padded bar could

be another option. Anyway congrats on the success of your son's

treatment and hope all stays well. Also welcome to the group, it's a

great support team.

Hello

Our boy is nearly 9 months and he too would roll over during the night and whack

the sides of his wooden cot (poor cot now has chunks and scratches). Thankfully

he is now a bit better and sleeps through most of his disturbances (not sure if

that is the right word to use, but you know what I mean).

I see you are in Australia. We live in Melbourne. I would like to hear from

you.
