Guest guest
I just have a question about the fixator. Why is it now popping up on this board as a alternative treatment?? Dr Herzenberg also mentioned it for Grace.....so that makes two of us at the same time. I know some of you parents attend the symposiums alot and wondered if you had heard any mention on the success rates involved or how long has Dr H. actually been using it to treat clubfoot. Any mention of it at all?? I know he has been using Ilizarov to treat other deformities for a long time...but for this? I and another parent are bothing facing very tough decisions and would I appreciate if anyone has any information on this thing actually being put to use. I have emailed Dr Herzenberg as well. Any mention of it on here in the past? Thanks again,
Guest guest
The first time we went to see Dr. Ponseti for in June of last year, he suggested it to us as a method in case the casting didn't work. It was my impression that he had just approved it as a possibility, but it was more of a last resort and wait til he is a bit older. I do know that when Dr. P was talking about it he was quite excited. Maybe that's why it's popping up all of a sudden, it's been around, but maybe they've improved on it so much that it now has the approval for being a good method to treat those cases where the kids are getting older and we seem to be out of time for casting. It's also taking the casting one step further. For most kids on the board the casting worked. Then there are those of us for whom it didn't. > > I just have a question about the fixator. Guest guest
, Check out this link....it seems that the fixator combined with the Ponseti Method principals will work well with older patients (those whom the Ponseti Method would have excluded in the past?). http://education.vsnl.com/polio_rx/ Daiga > > I just have a question about the fixator.
