Guest guest
The other night was getting ready for bed. He's turning 2 next week and loves to discuss everything in great detail. So we're 'reading' one of his books, called 'Mog and Me', about a little boy and his cat doing stuff. He's read the book often before, but this time he looks at the little boy getting into bed (cat getting into his basket) and says " Baba sleep " , I agree. " Shoes? Where baba night shoes? " He was so worried about this child not having his shoes, he wouldn't let us put on his FAB. I sneaked off with the book while my husband distracted and drew shoes on with colour pens. When I gave him the book back, he looked carefully at the shoes, touched them and was happy again. We put on his shoes and off he went to sleep... and 24 Jan 2003 bilateral cf, treated by Dr Ponseti www.clubfoot.co.za

Guest guest
ok, that was just so sweet!! Ahhhhhhh... I love that he can talk to you like that. Darbi's nowhere near getting anything like that across to me... she tries to talk but it all sounds the same. Balloon and shoes sound like the same word and neither of which sound much like they should either! Oh well... I know she'll speak when she's ready. Quite honestly I don't need another child learning to smart mouth me any sooner than necessary lol! Kori 07:28 AM 1/19/2005, you wrote: >The other night was getting ready for bed. Guest guest
, I have to tell you that this story actually made me cry! I'm sitting here like a nincompoop hoping my DH doesn't see me! Guest guest
Kori, I made the DBB for her doll out of the Markell shoes that I chopped holes in when Kaitlin had a sore and the bar that went with them. The shoes were so small (like a 000) that they fit right on a cabbage patch doll, no problem. As young as Kaitlin is (10 months) she LOVES her cabbage patch...think it's b/c of the shoes??? It sounds so silly to write it down, but I didn't want her to feel all alone in wearing the DBB. I feel completely silly now...are you laughing at me over there??? ;-) Freeman PS. I thought about donating the shoes but they have holes in them and I am guessing we will need the bar again, when she quits wearing the 's

Guest guest
I made both my kids DBB toys. 's was a green frog stuffed toys I put his old DBB on - he hardly wore the DBB though (, not the frog) so it was fairly non-issue but he liked to play with it anyway, maybe he did work out some of his own baby issues about his feet there. I remember now he went through a faze of putting " casts " on a lot of things. With Evy being in the bar all the time though, he has a rag doll farmer boy... I made a wooden " bar " and sewed it between the boots on the doll.

Guest guest
Jonah has OrthoTeddy, a stuffed bear who wears an FAB. Our daughter took OrthoTeddy to preschool when they were talking about doctors and hospitals. She gave the kids this adorable lecture on clubfoot and Ponseti treatment. Once, while Jonah was getting his casts changed, the casting tech asked Hannah if she wanted him to put a cast on the doll she had with her. Hannah looked at her doll, looked at the tech and said: " But my doll doesn't have crooked feet. Guest guest
I just loved this story, and now I have one of my own to add...although not quite as cute! Last night I was reading to my oldest daughter, Guinevere (4 years old, no CF) before bed and she was putting jammies on her baby doll. I realized she wasn't listening, because she was digging around in the baby doll clothes again, and pulled out a pair of shiny red shoes. So I went back to reading, and after she got them on her baby with the jammies, she tapped me and said " Look mommy, these are my baby's special shoes. She was born with a club foot too. " I was like, Ohhhh, that's so nice trying really hard not to cry because it was so sweet. So we laid there together in bed reading, each holding our clubfoot babies with their " special shoes " . Now I have to figure out how to make a DBB for a Bitty Baby! Any suggestions? , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/04 right CF DBB 23/7 > > > The other night was getting ready for bed.
