Guest guest
I don't think I've posted in months but when I rain, I pour -- Sorry! At an autism conference, Dr. Shaw said that mom's have come up to him saying that their kids have been digging at their eyes since they went gfcf. This is a sign of calcium deprivation. Some kids have even gouged their eyes out of their sockets so PLEASE make sure your kids are getting adequate calcium. They said that Calcium Citrate, not Calcium Carbonate is the BEST calcium to give our kids. The C. Carbonate is not absorbed as well. Sorry this is gross but with all the stuff we have to do for our kids, this can get overlooked. Kirkman's calcium is mostly absorbate so I went to a healtlh food store and bought some liquid gfcf Calium Citrate w/ magnesium that he loves. Guest guest
I was taking Viactiv calcium chews 3-4 times a day for 2 (TWO!) years after my WLS, unbeknownst to me I was supposed to be taking CITRATE not any other kind. Approximately 5 months after delivery, my bones began aching, and all of my teeth decalcified (leaving around 25-30 fillings, abscesses, and teeth to be filled). Not much was known (or told to me) about the calcium (or birth control pill) absorption, nor was I ever told the fact that 30% of gastric bypass patients develop metabolic bone disease after surgery. Live and learn they say..... I'm still alive- but at times I don't feel it!!
