Guest guest
Last night when we went to church a friend pointed out to me that 's eye looked a little swollen, and it did but since she was crawling on the floor I thought she had bumped herself on the chair. Well this morning when we woke up her eye was almost swollen shut! I called her dr. but he was booked for the day so I took her to see another dr. because there was no bruise or sting or anything that we could see that was causing that. Well the dr. we saw said it was a good thing I brought her in because it was a very serious infection. she told me the name but it was 3 words long and it was nothing i could pronounce anyway. but she told me the virus that causes an ear infection can cause this too although it is very uncommon. has any one had this happpen? she got a shot and antbiotics and has to get rechecked tommorow. she even said if it had gotten worse she could have been put in the hospitol and had to get cat scans etc. weird i know but im glad i took her in. just wondered if anyone knew about this or had this happen to their child? and BL CF 12/16/

Guest guest
Wow ! Good thing that it was caught before something else happened....hopefully she's on the mend! How scary. I've never heard of it before but it does make sense that it's somehow connected to ear infections. Guest guest
This sounds similar to an infection my nephew just had...his right eye had swollen shut (with what looked like a golf ball underneath) and he couldn't move his eyeball without a lot of pain. He had a CT scan and antibiotics...turned out he had a condition called Periorbital Cellulitis. It started out as sinusitis and got into his eye cavity, infecting the tissues all around his eye and starting to affect the muscles behind the eye. It can be very serious if left unchecked. I'm not sure if this is similar to what had, but I thought I would pass it along as an fyi to all. Bess At 08:30 PM 1/19/2005, you wrote: >Wow ! Guest guest
I didn't even know such a thing could happen in the eye like that. I would be so mad at my regular Pediatrician! It's not like she had the sniffles! I hope she is doing better now! > Last night when we went to church a friend pointed out to me that > 's eye looked a little swollen, and it did but since she was > crawling on the floor I thought she had bumped herself on the chair. > Well this morning when we woke up her eye was almost swollen shut! Guest guest
This is exactly what she had. the doctor said it happens when there is an ear or sinus infection and the infection runs to the eye are. it infects the eye socket causing swelling and little or no movement in the eye. luckily we caught it in time and she did not need to be put in the hospital. although it is uncommon it can be very dangerous! so if your child gets sick and you see their eyes even a little swollen dont hesitate to get it checked out! Guest guest
Jordan has had this eye infection too. It came along with an ear infection. She has had just about everything to go wrong with her ears that could. But, her's was not as far along as it sounds like your baby's got overnight. I took her as soon as I noticed her eye was red. Her eye looked like someone has poked it. Kinda like pink eye. She got drops and some antibotics and she was well again soon enough. And it hasn't happened again with any of her other ear infections. > > Last night when we went to church a friend pointed out to me that > 's eye looked a little swollen, and it did but since she was > crawling on the floor I thought she had bumped herself on the chair. > Well this morning when we woke up her eye was almost swollen shut! Guest guest
You know the funny thing is that her eye looked " normal " . Her eye never got red just a little swollen on the eye lid and that is all. the following morning is when her eyelid was so swollen her eye was lonly open halfway! she could still move it but it was swollen and not red either. Im glad she is better though. michelle and samantha > > > > Last night when we went to church a friend pointed out to me that > > 's eye looked a little swollen, and it did but since she > was > > crawling on the floor I thought she had bumped herself on the > chair. > > Well this morning when we woke up her eye was almost swollen shut! > I > > called her dr. but he was booked for the day so I took her to see > > another dr. because there was no bruise or sting or anything that > we > > could see that was causing that. Guest guest
My son is really allergic to mosquito bites, and we live in a really wet area, so he gets them all summer. Anyway, he got one on his temple this past summer, and it was a little swollen when he went to bed. When he woke up it had gone all the way across to his eye, and his eye was swollen shut. Everything almost to the bridge of his nose was HUGELY swollen. He had to go on 4 different medications, including eye drops, which would be awful in a 2 yr old, except on is wacky & would go lay on the floor when it was time for his eye drops--he actually enjoyed it. I'm either raising a future doctor or a psycho. Anyway, it's true infections can quickly spread to the eye, and really scary! We called him our little Quasimodo. , mommy of: Guinevere, on, Ava 8/4/04 right CF DBB 23/7 > > Last night when we went to church a friend pointed out to me that > > 's eye looked a little swollen, and it did but since she > was > > crawling on the floor I thought she had bumped herself on the > chair. > > Well this morning when we woke up her eye was almost swollen shut! > I > > called her dr. but he was booked for the day so I took her to see > > another dr. because there was no bruise or sting or anything that > we > > could see that was causing that.
