Jolene,

Creon contains soy only in the writing on the capsule. We open the

capsule up and sprinkle it over food.

I was told by Dr. Kahl (Ped. GI) in Cincinnati that creon must be swallowed

whole in its capsule or it will not work. I was crushing it and sprinkling in

juice. He said that was wrong. It can't be crushed while masticating

(chewing) either. Something about enteric coated ?? (according to the pharm.)

I hear there is a liquid form of creon, this may have side effects of

causing sores in the mouth. Gigi in Ohio

Dr. Holmes and our pharmacist both told me that the creon could not be chewed

or crushed also. However, they both told me that it was fine for me to either

suspend the granules in something (careful of the pH) or that I could

sprinkle them

on top of a spoonful of food and have him swallow. I do this with his ice

cream

substitute and it works great! He doesn't chew, just swallows. We have had

great success with the creon thus far and absolutely no side effects. Hope

this

helps.......

I called the company regarding creon and they said that it was ok to open

the capsules and mix it into food. YOu shouldn't really chew up the

balls though. They also said something about the ph level of the food

you are adding it to should be around 5.5
