Guest guest
Hello my son is 6 months old lcf currently in dbb for 9 weeks now just recently left foot slipping out, Looks really red where strap goes over. Currently trying anti slip socks to see if cures problem tried tightening strap but makes red marks sore. But if I loosen strap he takes his foot out any suggestions would be grateful. Red marks go lighter after hour off boots, but do not want to leave boots of any longer. No blisters or sores yet.
Guest guest
The shoes are making that red mark pretty much across the board. The newly designed padded tongue seems to be the culprit, personally I think the padding is not quite thick enough and I hope they're working on that. But the red marks aren't an issue unless there are sores as a result. Darbi had that red mark for over a year. At first, you can't do any adjusting on the strap because the foot does slip out but after time the heel drops down and the foot doesn't slip as easily so you can try tighter laces and looser straps. It took about 6 mo's of that for Darbi's red marks to go away but I noticed yesterday that they are indeed gone. But she's also nearly 2 years into wearing the DBB and it's just different with an older corrected foot than it is with a little one like you've got right now and you can fudge a little on some thing where you can't with a newly corrected foot. Tighten the strap so the foot doesn't slip and unless you notice a blister or sore forming (watch it closely for the first few days of this) it's ok for the red mark to stay. Pretty much as far as marks go, red is ok but dark purple/black is not. Also, don't gauge the time off by how the marks go away, just do the hour off instead of multiple hours. Red marks that go away or get less red are really ok. Kind of weird because a normal child we wouldn't allow a red mark to form from wearing shoes but with these children it's ok to have red feet lol. Remember to dorsiflex the foot, and bend the knee when you tighten the strap, you might be able to shove the heel deeper in the boot and get it tighter without putting undue pressure on the top of the foot. We also elongate the tongue keeper slit so the tongue can sit very low, under the top edge of the boot which allows the ankle to be cinched tighter when you tie the laces. Has been a good thing for us and I still do it even though her chubby baby calves are not so chubby anymore. Since we have some new members I will post the tips and tricks again to the groups. Check that out, there may be something there that helps you. Welcome by the way! Guest guest
Welcome, welcome welcome! Congrats on making it to the marvelous world of DBB! Man, that left foot seems to be a stinker. More parents complain of that one slipping out then any other!!! Sometimes a foot will start slipping out because it is relapsing, so if that's been checked by your doctor and ruled out, you may want to try thicker socks, making sure that that heel is all the way down. there is an FAB/DBB Tips sheet floating around here in past posts that you can look up and get some good ideas for that too. I would make sure though that the foot is not relapsing. Red marks are fine as long as he's not complaining about them and they do go away, although, my son seems to have permanent marks where the straps go...but they don't bother him at all. We had problems with the left too, we had to get a wider shoe, and wear thicker socks. Hope this helps, atypical bl cf 10-09-03 > > > Hello my son is 6 months old lcf currently in dbb for 9 weeks now > just recently left foot slipping out, Looks really red where strap > goes over. Guest guest
Connor had red marks on the top of his feet so I took the tongues out completely and eventually the went away and I haven't ever put them back.
