I just joined this list and had asked around about toothpaste everyone

recommended the Tom's brand to me. When I mentioned this to a woman that is

into homeopathy she about fell over. Apparently Tom's brand has this SLS in

it. I don't have a tube in front of me and so I cannot confirm. But I thought

that if anyone would want this information you all would.

A few years ago, I got on the SLS bandwagon. It is sodium laurel sulfate and

is derived from coconut oil. It is used for industrial cleaners in higher

concentrations. I got the information from a multi level marketing company

that used some research from the Medical College of GA to endorse the dangers

of SLS. I could not find any other negative information about it (although

we know that that doesn't mean it's OK).

The shampoos and toothpaste's that do not contain SLS are hard to come by and

it gets very expensive. If you can afford it-great (Aubry Organics has

personal care products that uses only ingredients that you read and know what

everything is-but it gets expensive.) Peelu toothpaste has no SLS and that's

the only one I've found that doesn't have it.

I just set my priorities and no SLS is on the list, just not at the top of

the list right now. Of course, no gluten/casien is first and artificial

colors (who decided that we needed green or blue or purple shampoo, anyway)

comes next.

Toms of Maine will send out a fact sheet about SLS (they also sent me some

coupons, too)

Yes do tell, I have this toothpaste upstairs in the bathroom for my kids and

I also use it. I love it, so of course there's got to be something wrong

with it!

Maybe SLS comes from different sources because the Tom's toothpaste says

it's from coconut oil- this doesn't seem harmful to me. Anyone

else........???????
