Guest guest
These are NOT DOE figures. This set of rates (floating all over the 'net) has had serious questions raised about its accuracy. Apparently someone took different DOE stats, combined them & did some math and came up with this list. The main criticism is that they seem to be the the autism rates amongst the special ed population, not the general school population. Likewise, there is another error with a 900% autism increase alleged in some papers. I found it initally in a Goldberg/NIDS press release, also claiming it was a DOE figure. I contacted Goldberg & his company, requesting the source of this data, but no one responded. And I haven't found anything in DOE figures to support it. Yes, autism is increasing and it's a nightmare, and we don't need questionable math, inaccurate sources & unsupported figures to know that.
