Guest guest
My son also had reflux (as with my other children) and I was THRILLED that by the time I had my fourth, they believed me and did something about it. Zantac and Proplusid saved my live BUT, do we know why the Propulsid was take off the market. I wonder if by any chance it could have contributed to his autism?. I'd be interested to know how many others had the reflux problem with you autistic children. Lori from KS
Guest guest
We see symptoms that would be conducive to reflux (nasty, wet-sounding belches, vomiting with the same sour smell, when we have a gluten slip-up. It has been my opinion that many asd children are dx'd with reflux when all they really need is a cf/gf diet. Pat in Ohio

He would throw up almost everyday before diet. Looking back I think maybe it was better he was throwing Gluten and Casein food. As if his body knew it was bad and wouldn't tolerate it. Perhaps if he didn't throw it up he would be worse off from absorbing the food in his system. He throws up rarely now. Like on the shoes of a flight attendant over the Pacific Ocean. Never a dull moment. Judy
Guest guest
Hi, Reflux can be CF related. My daughter had really terrible reflux and wasn't eating enough so when they put in the g-tube they did the nissan fundoplication (reflux surgery) For , it was really tough because she gagged all the time from the nissan. she was also on reflux meds reglan and zantac. Eventually, when she was sick in the hospital she broke through the nissan during a tube feed and threw up all over the place. We kept her on the reflux meds up until a few months ago as she seemed to grow out of it. (some do, some don't.) Hope I've helped. Reflux Hi - I want to know if reflux is cf related, is itcommon for pwcf to have reflux?-Kari
Guest guest
Most all of the living adults and teen-agers in my entire extended clan who have ever had gastroesophogeal reflux diagnosed by endoscopy, have also been tested cf carriers; in some cases they were not tested until this little gem appeared in their family--my father had it as well, for example, and we KNOW that he was a carrier--even before testing was on the far horizon! I hope that this is helpful and not too grim to bring up, Love to all at cfparents, n Rojas, wcf, CFRD and (formerly) Barrett's Esophogitis, caused by gastrointestinal reflux
