Can someone guide me to or provide me with information to bring to my kids

allergist tomorrow on why I need the blood allergy test as opposed to the

skin scratch test? Also- will the tests for dairy and wheat work if he is

GFCF? Thanks for any help!

Our local allergist does not beleive in IGg allergy testing either. I

find this very interesting because she has been in practice as an

allergist for over 30 years and is still in the dark. I did howevewr

find an ear nose and throat Dr. who will run the IGg allergy testing,

as a matter of fact he prefers it for food allergy testing. I had

some run on me the other day and am taking in next month to get

the extensive panel. I stumbled upon him because my regular Dr.

wanted me checked for Hodgkins. I had no idea a ear, nose and throat

Dr. would run allergy testing. So if you can't talk the allergist

into it maybe you could find a local ENT who will do it. My

experience with Dr.'s is that you will not usually talk them into

doing something they do not beleive in, so seek out one who does. I

chose my battles carefully any more as I have spent many wasted days

trying to convert Dr.'s to my way of seeing things, of coarse to no

evail.

I seem to have missed the first part of this thread so forgive me if I'm

restating something that has already been addressed.

I have Kaiser too. has an appointment with the allergy dept. in

just a few days and they have insisted (I didn't argue, but their tone

suggested that they expected me to) that he get the blood test rather

than the scratch test. Plus they were very concerned about traumatizing

my son with the scratch test.

BTW, I'm in Sacramento, but I believe that Kaisers policy is the same

state to state so I doubt that your allergists stand is based on

policy. Maybe you can request a different allergist. I have also

noticed that if pushed Kaiser (at least the one here) doctors with bend.

I have no idea. :-) That's a question I was going to ask *after* the

test was done. I don't want to give them any excuse not to do it since

it is for gluten and casein allergy that got me the appointment.

When is your appointment? 's is on the 9th. If you go before I do

please let me know how it went.
