Guest guest
I called my mom because the mess is at her house - she's got the wonderful machine that does it all at the touch of a button - and she said that it just says NB, S, M and L so who knows. However, we just altered the pieces for our use. Not a big deal. And the bottom and width is altered quite a bit and it worked out just fine. When we do the ones without sleeves, we're just going to wing it since we dont' need to use a zipper. We'll take the ones that we made with sleeves, make a pattern of two pieces (no bottom flap needed) and just add tabs to the " sack " . If you don't sew much you probably don't understand that but for those of you that do, it should make some sense! LOL Here are a few other patterns... http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M4640=x&TI=\ 40015&pageNum=2 (can make without hood) http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M4632=x&TI=\ 40015&pageNum=3 (can alter the size at the bottom - this one is open there, you could just sew it closed) http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/mccallspatterns/shop.cgi?s.item.M4236=x&TI=\ 40015&pageNum=8 (more pieces but cute!) http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4333=x&TI=10011&\ pageNum=1 sleeveless option http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B4213=x&TI=10011&\ pageNum=2 another sleeveless option http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B5091=x&TI=10011&\ pageNum=8 http://store.sewingtoday.com/cgi-bin/butterick/shop.cgi?s.item.B5220=x&TI=10011&\ pageNum=9 Enjoy! Guest guest
Wonderful! Thanks so much for finding and forwarding the pattern site - I intend to order one tomorrow. I've been leaning towards just " faking " a sack as I live near no major markets to find a pattern at (didn't think of the web, duh), now I don't have to pretend, I can make a real one! These things are so perfect for DBB use. s. Re: Flying bar! Chris- Which pattern did you get? Guest guest
Where did you find heavy duty zippers for your sleep sac's? & Grace > Lori, > I know everyone already told you about the sleep sacks. I just wanted to share that if you are handy at all with a needle you can take a pattern and make it larger wherever you need it. My daughter is 11 mos old - almost a year now - so she doesn't fit in to the ones from the normal stores and the ones over the web are just tooo darn expensive so I got a pattern and figured it would be too hard but alas it's just not. six pieces and easy sewing. I enlarged the bottom width so her bar fits nicely and will through next year at least. I lengthened it as well and made the sleeves longer also. I roll them up now but next year they'll be fine. It was a cheap solution - I made 5 for the price I'd have spent buying one on the web, I made several double thick for our really cold nights, and I KNOW they'll last a bit. Just a thought... > Chris > Flying bar! > > > > Hello everybody! Weston, now 4 months old, is flinging his bar > around like a mad man. He loves to lift up his legs and bang the > bar down. Guest guest
I just bought them at JoAnn's or perhaps the Mothership. I don't remember what I actually bought at each store but I do know I bought by price. I LOVE bargains! And I don't know that they are 'heavy duty' per se. Just what I'd normally buy. KWIM? Guest guest
Sure wish I could sew. We also use sleep sacks. I am not very crafty so I have to purchase them. I found some that I really love. For anybody who can't sew and need other ideas, go to Onestepahead.com. They are called " Back to Sleep " sleep sacks. They come in 4 different sizes(S-XL). You can get them in cotton or micro fleece material. They are very roomy at the bottom. I just dress Claire in regular pajamas(legs that snap) and put the sack on over top. It works great. She crawls and stands in it as well. I also just saw the same sacks in the J.C. Penny Catalog for a little bit cheaper. I think they were $19.99. I know it's more pricier than making them, but some people just don't have the talent, like me. LOL. Hope this helps.
