Guest guest
Thanks ee for forwarding the message. We live in Camden County. We goto Dr. Herzenberg at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, MD it is worth the drive. We have been to Alfred I. Dupont in Wilminton, DE and Shriners in Philadelphia, however neither practice the ponseti method (no matter what they tell you) so I wouldn't reccomend them just Dr. Herzenberg, he is great. It would be great if you could find out more information from your friend, my e-mail is chele323232@... P.S. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!!! Guest guest
Michele: Just out of curiosity...was NYC too far for you to consider going for treatment. I guess I live closer to NYC than Baltimore. I have a consultation with a dr. who is linked to Dr. Lehman's practice at the Hospital for Joint Diseases. If anyone has had any experience with this practice please let me know since I am total newcomer to all of this. My due date is 6/12. At the ultrasound they found that the babies right left is hyperextended...anyone else ever experience this? Jacki michele_and_collin chele323232@...> wrote: Thanks ee for forwarding the message. Guest guest
Hi Jacki, I didn't consider NJC because Baltimore, MD is actually easier for us. We live is South Jersey about 10-15 min. outide of Philadelphia, so for us to goto baltimore it's about 1.5 hrs. - 2 hrs, where with the NY traffic it would probably be about 2.5 hours at least, I would go there if we had to but I just think baltimore is easier for us. Guest guest
Hi Jacki - I am also in New Jersey (Somerset Co) and went throug some of the same things. My wife is due in 15 days and the baby was diagnosed on the 20 wk sonogram with bilateral CF. We researched a lot and every single article pretty much came back to the Ponseti method. We looked at the Doctors website and didn't see anyone listed in New Jersey as being trained in the method (officially endorsed by Dr. ponseti is more accurate) We emailed Dr. Ponseti and he replied within minutes and reccomended two doctors in Manhattan....Dr. Walace Lehman (East Village area) and Dr. Scher (Upper East Side). We wrote both doctors and they also replied same day that they are taking new patients, strictly adhere to the method, and would be happy to meet with us. The decision for us came down to the fact that Dr. Scher was in-network for our insurance and Dr. Lehman was not. They both appear to be very qualified. Dr. Lehman also works with 2-3 other doctors at the Hospital for Joint Diseases who are also Ponseti trained and approved (Feldman, Von Bosse, and ?...drawing a blank). Sorry this doesn't help out much for NJ, but we were in the same position. In the end we'd rather drive an hour each way to see a fully trained and endorsed doctor than half the time for someone who uses multiple methods (including surgery) Many on here seem to travel MUCH further so I'll never complain :-) I posted a note similar to yours a few weeks ago and got some great responses, but my computer crashed :-( Thank you to all who wrote and please write again if you are in the area and care to share your experiences with any of these doctors. mgiven@... in FREEZING NJ > Thanks for clearing that up Kori! > s. > >

Guest guest
It is the offices of Dr. Mark Reiger, Dr. Lin, and Dr. Gaffney. They are Pediatric Orthopedic surgeons. I have only met with Dr Lin and Dr. Gaffney. They are located in Cedar Knolls off of Ridgeway avenue which is off of Route 10. We have been seeing them since Jordan was seven days old. We went through the serious of casting and are now in the dbb. They are a bit more conservative. They want the kids in the dbb for AT LEAST three months at 23 hours a day - preferrably until the child can bear weight. They also recommend wearing the shoes and brace for up to five years if the child will tolerate it. Jordan's foot looks beautiful. I had to bring Jordan in when he first started wearing the dbb because he developed sores. They worked with the orthotist to make the shoe a better fit for Jordan's foot so that it didn't slip. They don't like to wait so the minute I called with a problem they had me come in. We had the foot issue addressed and the shoes redesigned within 2 days. Jordan has been happy ever since!! I will email you their number later....we just had a water main break in front of our house and it is leaking into our finished basement.....UGH!!! Keri Re: Re: Fw: NJ Thanks ! Guest guest
the orthotist took out the insert that was rubbing against Jordan's heel and put this white material in it's place. The material conforms to the ankle giving a nice snug fit. it is soft and pliable. I can't really describe it but I wish it were in my shoes!! Guest guest
lol, they did the same thing to Darbi's shoes. The soft white material... she still had sores, they got worse! I still have those shoes with the white material, plastizode underneath that they ground down over and over again trying to make it not hurt her... then they cut those holes, left the white stuff and that finally worked! Well, plus me making sure her heel was down all the way. That's funny! I'm glad that worked for you because it didn't for us. But they tried really hard for her! Guest guest
Thanks so much for the information. I have a consultation lined up on Monday with Dr.Gail Chorney who is at the Hospital at Joint Diseases at NYU with Dr. Lehman and Dr. Feldman. I'm not sure...but I think that she is also trained in the Ponseti method. She has an office in Orangeburg, NY ( she is there on Mondays only) which is close to where we live-we are in Bergen County. If she says that it is better to see one of the drs. like Feldman or Lehman, of course we would. What has your experience been with Dr. Feldman. I'm from the city and delivered my first child at NYU and always had NYU drs. and I liked all the drs. from there.... Cigna, ours, he did not accept, but he submitted our claims anyhow, and they paid almost everything. I am also in NJ, and hated the drive through to NY, but I guess it was worth it all. If there is a Doc in NJ, that would be GREAT. I am in Union county. and 6/24/04 bcc mitchells 18/7 Szabo lexibo89@...> wrote: Thanks ! Do you know what insurance Feldman accepts. In the end we'd rather drive an hour each way to see a fully trained and endorsed doctor than half the time for someone who uses multiple methods (including surgery) Many on here seem to travel MUCH further so I'll never complain :-) I posted a note similar to yours a few weeks ago and got some great responses, but my computer crashed :-( Thank you to all who wrote and please write again if you are in the area and care to share your experiences with any of these doctors. mgiven@... in FREEZING NJ > Thanks for clearing that up Kori! > s. > >
