I Love Hannah too alot. I ended up with Emerson Roger because all my kids have names that are 3 sylabbles and end with N and the middle names are all R names, ssooo we kept with it for this one but BOY WAS IT HARD... Guest guest
I think we are going with the first name of Bjorn...it means bear in swedish. When we had - we were completely prepared for a girl. He was to be named Zoe. But as you know we got a surprise. I liked because of the bible story but Jace wanted him to be named Mattias . I thought he would get made fun of because there are so many tough guys here....So he got a more normal first name...unfortunately it was the most popular boy name of the year and when I call usually 2 others come running!!! Again cause we live in Massachusetts I am worried about the name Bjorn....people will call him BEEEE- Jorn...Like they sometimes call me Christ-ul..........uggggh! Or they may call him BJ which doesn't exactly have a lovely meaning either... wants to call the baby after my step-dad and my grandfather...I like that too. Will or Bjorn.....but Jace is kind of stubborn about Bjorn.. So we'll just see....... Chrystal Wife to Jace - together 6 Years! Happy Mommy to - 4 Years Old! New Baby Boy Swenson Due July 28, 2004! Guest guest
I am a teacher in an inner city school and I have that same problem. There are many names would have liked but.... When they remind you of a child with awful behavior it certainlt ruins it! Inner city children do have a higher % of behavioral and discipline problems. (many of our children are crack babies or have similar issues) Having taught for 7 years there goes so many names! Hubby and I decided to wait till we find out what the sex is (maybe next week if the little one is cooperating) before really serously discussing boys names. I have had a girls name picked out for years so that is taken care of. Good lUCK WITH THE NAME BUSINESS - dIANE
Guest guest
Isn't it frustrating?! LOL! My hubby is Jewish and for his family I wanted to follow Jewish tradition and either take the whole name or at least the first initial of a deceased relative and use it to make the name for the baby. Glenn and I decided to focus on our grandparents to honor this child, everyone loved the boy name we picked out but my family hatted how the name Hannah flowed with her middle name Lena, hence making Hannah Lena. First words out of my Mom's mouth is that sounds too much like havalina, which for those of you not from the southwest, a havalina is a wild pig! LOL! I told my Mom its not like we or she is going to introduce herself as " Hi, my name is Hannah Lena " . My Mom then said why don't we change the middle name and I told her that was Glenn's fave grandma's name, then she said change Hannah, and I told her it was after her mother! She then said, " Well, why isn't my name incorporated in there somewhere? " . I then told her if she could arrange to die before the baby is born then I will make sure her name is in there somewhere! LOL!!! Since then she has " gotten used " to the name we picked out. LOL!!! Guest guest
Hey everyone... My husband and I have talked a bit about what we would name a child if we were to be blessed with one. If a boy, we have thrown around the idea of naming him after our fathers. My dad's (who died in 2000) name was Ron. Mark's dad's name is Don. We thought it would be great to name the baby Mc. hehehe. JUST KIDDING!!! Seriously though: if we have a boy someday we're thinking about Caleb Isaac. If it's a girl, we really like Hannah Joy. The only problem with Hannah is that it's really popular and I am a fan of having a " not so popular " name. We'll see. I also thought about naming a girl and calling her Ronni after my Dad (that's what we called him). So we'll see. I guess that's putting the cart before the horse since we're not even pregnant yet. Although...I finished my first round of clomid and it's about time for me to ovulate. I used an ovulation predictor test strip last night and I'm not quite ovulating, but I think it's getting close as there actually was a light colored band that appeared...but it's not as dark as the test band. Maybe today?? PLUS...hubby had a semen analysis done two weeks ago. The number they were looking for was 20,000. His is 40,000!!! I keep calling him my little stud:) hehehe Have a great day everyone!! Peace... Melody
Guest guest
My husband and I have decided on for a boy. That one was easy-my grandpa and his dad. We have been back and forth with girl names. We wanted something that a thousand other girls were not named. We have come up with Loralai Jewel-Loralai from my favorite tv show Gilmore Girls and Jewel is my and my grandma's middle name. We would call her Rory just ike the show. My mom isnt too keen on that name. She asked me if I was crazy when I told her. She says that she likes the name Ann and that is what she is going to call it. UUUUGGGGGGG!!! I have decided not to talk names with mom til the baby comes. OH!! LOL I like Rory too, but even if I didn't, if that's what you & your dh like, then tell your mom to come home from her power trip. Guest guest
, I'm confused, isn't Loralai on the show the mom and Rory the daughter? I love both the names and think that if you have a daughter she would be lucky to have either name. Did you ask your mom whether she is going to call your baby Ann if its a boy, LOL! I know how frustrating this is as my Mom isn't too excited about the name I picked for my daughter. I ended up telling her too bad and to deal with it. Stand your ground, its your baby and you should name it whatever you want. I will be watching Wed for your post! Axelrod Re: Baby names My husband and I have decided on for a boy. Guest guest
I wanted to respond as well. My mom also was trying to " help " us name this baby. We do know we are having a boy after already having three other boys. I already have a Cory, and n. My mom wanted me to use certain names for the middle name and tried to get me to use as the first name. When I would mention names I liked she would say she didn't like it so we needed to think of something " else " . And she was stuck on having me use " " as the middle name, which was my deceased grandmothers maiden name. But I don't CARE for . If I'd of had a girl...I told her I would of used my grandmothers FIRST name as the middle name...Jacqulyn. She said " I was going to have you use it as the FIRST name! " Ah, HELLO...this is MY child here. I'll name it thank you! So anyway, the other day she asked if I'd come up with anything yet, saying she hasn't been able to think of anything else...and I said yes. I thought I had his name all picked out...but told her I wasn't telling until his birth. She tried really hard to get me to change my mind on this and said she wanted us to all " take a vote " on the name. So, I didn't give in and she will NOT know until this little one is born. We did tell the boys...but I know they'll have fun keeping the secret. We also won't be telling my mother-in-law the name. The name is VERY close to my nephews (my mother in laws OTHER grandson). Nephews name is Hayden. We are naming this baby Caiden (Caden...not sure on spelling yet) and the middle name will be after my brother (he's my brother by marriage of my dad to his mom...and then my dad adopted him)...and my mom said she didn't " like " the name . Therefore didn't want me to use it. You can do what I've done (and I know others have as well) and just tell your mom that since you'll know what the baby is (sex wise) that you plan to keep " something " a surprise and one of those things is the name. Good luck....don't back down!!! And make sure you speak up IF your mom insists on calling your child something YOU have not named it!!! You need to NOT let that happen. Guest guest
I replied to this early this morning but it isn't appearing in the message listing so I will repost. lol If it posts twice maybe I'm blind, crazy or both! lol My mother and sister in-law both balked at the named we chose for our special little blessing from the Lord. They never said why they had reservations about the name, but we could tell they *balked* at the idea. We told them at my baby shower that we had chosen " Christian " because that was the way we were going to raise him and it was most appropriate and fitting since many, many prayers to my Lord were answered. I don't know if she (being a devout Christian) thought we were being sacreligious or what, but she said, " What are you going to call him----CJ? Chris? " and we told her most likely Christian. We didn't bring it up to them again until 10/24/02- when he was delivered. We named him Christian Jude. Jude for my beloved fertility doctor, Jude. (we liked Christian , but wanted something unique). Also, after researching and discovering that St Jude is the Patron St of Hopeless Causes (which we were before finding the Lord, each other and Dr Jude), and reading the Bible- Book of Jude. Some Bibles reference that Jude may have been the half-brother of Jesus, so we thought if it was a good enough name for Jesus' half-brother, it would be even that more special being my 9 yr old half-brothers name. We chose it very thoughtfully and carefully and someday, I can't wait to share with him why we chose this name. But, I agree w/ Kris. I read an article when I was pg w/ Christian and it was for people who ask you the opinion of a name. It said they aren't looking for criticism if they are asking your opinion, and the best thing to do is say a simple yes or no to liking it, otherwise you risk hurting someone who values your opinion (or they wouldn't be asking). Best of luck! Sheila

Guest guest
Sydney, Wow! I'm so sorry your going through this, how awful! I LOVE the name you picked for your son, its beautiful. Why is it that our Mom's have such problems with the names we picked out? I wonder if they went through similar problems when they announced our names to our grandmothers? I think I'm gonna ask my Mom about that. It could be my Mom got some grief because she didn't use names that rhymed or were even similar for my twin sis and I, my sister's name is . My Mom said she did this on purpose because she wanted us to be individuals. Maybe it didn't matter to my extended family what our names were as my sis and I were always referred to as " the twins " , LOL! Axelrod Re: Re: Baby names I wanted to respond as well. Guest guest
The worst I have ever heard is a lady my husband works with, her name is Tnedicca. It is accident spelled backwards, and yes, I promise that is her name on her birth certificate. Just awful if you ask me! Re: Re: Baby names I just have to put my two cents into this one. I know everyone these days wants unusual names...something that's rare and not a lot of people are named. HOWEVER, I think it's gotten a little out of hand. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
