Guest guest
Thanks Angel, I never thought about that being the purpose. We always used the middle strap to keep her feet from wiggling out...thought its tightness was the most important thing....BIG OOOOOOOPPPPPPPSSSSSSS!!!!!! I will mention it to , we just got our second pair of s today...man they look HUGE compared to the last ones... He did make some nice improvements. Guest guest
The leather is ALOT thicker and somewhat wider, I am guessing because so many straps have broken. The yellow part is different...not sure what it is made from, it is alot stiffer and thicker also. The darned old cleaty logo is still there, but closer together, so it is less like cleats now. The black plastic is still there, but it seems thicker. As silly as it sounds, I didn't have time to thoroughly inspect the shoes, came home from a 12 hour shift, put them on the bar and then her feet and off to bed.. He also did a much better job of cutting the leather this time, no extra large tongue and the leather stays under the buckles so they can't cause sores, if that makes sense. The look so strange...big and blue tinted... Freeman
Guest guest
I have never tightened the straps on the non-cf very tight; only snug (at best! lol) enough to hold the foot in. Basically, as long as the ankle strap is snug enough to hold his scrawny ankle in, the other ones are just laying against his foot. I would mention this to Dr P and/or to get their input since the middle strap really is designed to brind the arch down. Date: Fri, 28 Jan 2005 21:36:33 EST Hi Everyone, Kaitlin wears the shoes...her non-clubfoot is EXTREMEMLY flat..the woman at the shoe store even mentioned her flat-footedness...:-( Angels post about the s made me wonder if her flat feet could have anything to do with her wearing the 's? What do you think? Freeman Part of Angel's post that got me thinking about this: " The shoes are of a Birkenstock sandal type design and have 3 straps - ankle, midfoot and forefoot - to hold unusually small or shaped cllubfeet in place (this is the reason for the design, but not always the reason for wear). The middle strap can be used to correct cavus (high arch) by tightening it every so often. Also due to the overall design, the brace uses smaller angles than the standard DBB/FAB. Unlike the Markells, certain not-fully-corrected clubfeet can be put in the s and achieve full correction over time. "

Guest guest
I thought all babies were flat footed? My oldest (almost 7) still is. It looks like his ankles are rolling to the inside from the back. Dr. says that's why his feet hurt so much when he stands. I think my dad is too. I'm not, if I don't have an arch the plantar tendon hurts very bad, it feels like it's pulling out and burns. Interesting thread. I never knew this. Guest guest
Wow. I wonder if he changed them again after I received a new pair in November. He had already changed the yellow insert. But the leather was the same as the old ones. He did say he changed the black plastic because ours cracked, but the plastic looks the same to me. Maybe it is more durable. So far we haven't had any problems with the new ones. Shook Retail Operations Manager/Baking Instructor Vie de France Yamazaki, Inc. 2070 Chain Bridge Rd.
