Guest guest
hi everyone! quick up-date- I lost my password and finally got a new one- I wrote in Nov upset over baby's shoes - 8 months rcf- but they seemed to be ok after all...anyhow just before Christmas baby ripped the bar off the shoe, scattering little screws. His sibling was badly scratched trying to take the rest of it off him. Turns out they had put the bar on with SHEET METAL SCREWS! even though there is s socket for a flat topped safety screw. I took my problem to the " other " orthotics place here and they took pictures as were doing an inservice with the surgeons early in Jan and wanted to show them. We were so thankful was supervised at the time and didn't swallow the nasty sharp things or be scratched. So I was right about something being wrong.... tell me about walking please. I went through and searched 5000 emails to get some background so I know our kiddies have certain issues: sensitive feet, loss of " training " , muscle weakness etc.but 's walk is really strange! our sit'n: baby was casted from 2 days to five months, then out for 3 weeks, surgery (heel tendon), then cast x 1 month, out x 3 weeks, then DBB for almost 3 months. I was super good for 2 1/2 months but now have it off for at least 1 hour mornings and evenings. He made NO effort to mobilize at all until I started this after Christmas. Now he will flop onto his tummy, even with the bar, and move in a circle to reach toys. He rolled over before Sept and surgery but doesn't if in bar, so wakes up consistantly at night to be shifted. There is no interest in crawling. My other kids walked independently from 9 months to 12 1/2 months and none of the 7 ever did the stuff he does with his feet and legs. We call it " russian ballet " . He lifts a leg up high and makes crazy circles and points it and waves it then flops it down heel first, anywhere. Lots of scissoring, stepping on his own feet, but he's wildly excited. He thinks he's cruising!! This has gone on since Christmas when we began standing him up when he was out of shoes. The right leg (CF) has no muscle, just flab and he prefers to weight bear on left leg. We go to see surgeon in a couple of weeks and I need to know what to ask. Does physio help? We have no insurance coverage so I would do it IF it is truly a benefit. Maybe it's just because I'm a little concerned but he seems behind in all his gross motor skills but is ok with fine motor (pinching, transferring, grasping etc) Even with sitting he falls over a lot when wearing the brace. He's 10 months old now and the family treasure! --------------------------------- Post your free ad now! Yahoo! Canada Personals
Guest guest
Margaret, Is it possible that has some additional issues with missing/underdeveloped nerves that might be causing the issues? Have any of your doctors ruled out hypotonia (I think this is the correct term for " floppy " babies- weak muscle tone)? The thing that I would suggest is video taping a lot of footage of 's different behaviors/movements and have that analyzed by one or more doctors. It's often frustrating as a mother when *you* see a certain behavior and know that something isn't quite right- but then you cannot demonstrate it or explain it well enough for the doctor at the appointment. Hopefully it's nothing and your little guy just needs some time to " practice " .....but my best suggestion would be to document as much as you can on video tape. If nothing else, it will give you a baseline to compare to a few months down the road so you can check his progress! Good to hear from you- & (3-16-00) left clubfoot > hi everyone! > quick up-date- I lost my password and finally got a new one- > I wrote in Nov upset over baby's shoes - 8 months rcf- but they seemed to be ok after all...anyhow just before Christmas baby ripped the bar off the shoe, scattering little screws.
