Guest guest
Thank you everyone for the info on the Glucosamine yesterday. I got some and have begun taking it but it says it won't take effect for 4-8 weeks so that doesn't help me today. Second day I can't get my leg straight cause of so much pain at the knee. Just came from the doctor and she gave me Indocin and said to take it for 7 days. She said it would be ok for me. Is it really ok to take short term like that? I had lab work and we will see if it is showing arthritis or gout. She said if it's gout, these meds would clear it up right away. I want to be out of this unbelievable pain but am scared to take even one of these things.

I understand not wanting to take a medication that would harm the stomach. However, if I am in so much pain that I am crying when I move, I have to make that a priority for a while. I have arthritis and will occasionally take ibuprofen. (I know, I know) I can also count the number of times I have done that in the last 19 months on one hand. Like I said, this is merely my opinion. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas CHF 4/14/01 479 lbs. SRVG 7/16/01 401 lbs. Guest guest
.........I am not " technically " sure about the Indocin......but I CAN tell you that when I took it years ago, prior to WLS I thought I was gonna die. It is the only medicine I have taken in my life that caused me that kind of pain( and I have taken a LOT of meds.) Hopefully someone else will be able to help!! P. Guest guest
Thank you everyone for all your great help and tips. I took the Indocin twice and that was it. My leg is about 90% better. It still feels very tight but is not painful so no more meds for it unless absolutely necessary. I am continuing the glucosmine chon stuff and will continue that long term. I'll be calling my doctor on Tuesday for the results of my blood work from yesterday. It will show if this was gout in my knee which I am suspecting and I'll find out how to keep my uric acid levels at the correct place so this doesn't happen again any time soon. > , this is just an opinion, but sometimes we have to do things that > we wouldn't necessarily want to do all of the time. Guest guest
This does is similar to what was prescribed for my young adult daughter. Based on weight she was told to take Advil 800 mg every 6 to 8 hours as needed for headache onset. She typically took no more than 1 or 2 doses in a day. She did not seem to have an GI symptoms related to that dose. Note: She can no longer take this as she was recently diagnosed with a platelet aggregation abnormality which causes bleeding. We haven't found any product since that has helped for acute pain. Last week her B2 (riboflavin) was increased to 200 mg four times/day hoping that will help abort some of the migraine type headaches.
