Guest guest
I go tomorrow and will tell you my weight update. At my last visit I was almost 19 weeks and gained 15 pounds. I am now 23 weeks 5 days so we'll see tomorrow. I know I haven't been the best with eating well these past few weeks. My kids have had a couple trips to KFC and Mcs so i did too and I ate some chips here and there and snacked more than I should, good snacks, but way too many of them. I know once I see that scale tomorrow i will probably be slapped back into reality. God Bless, Robin, NorthEastern, NY EDD- July 27th, 2004 IT'S A BOY!!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Deanna. I had my RNY over 3 years ago (11/7/00) and at my 16 week check up I had already gained 10 pounds which was right on track per my doctors standards (for me). I think the further out we are, the more we area able gain due to larger portions/eating. I cannot tell you how scary it has been to see how much I can actually eat! My portions have definitely increased since getting pregnant. I just got back from a week in CA visiting my sister and her family; I am scared to see the scale on Tuesday at my 20 week check up!! I feel as though I gained 10 more pounds by all the eating I did there! haha Have a good day! Ivy
Guest guest
Deanna, Hey!! I am 20w3d and I have lost 4lbs!! I keep gaining one week then losing the next week. I had my rny march of 03 and have lost 150lbs and still have another 70 to lose. My doc thought I would actually lose the whole time but now that I have problems with low blood sugar he thinks its probably better if I gain so that they know I am getting enough nutrients... I dunno anymore I am just letting what happens happen and I will worry about it when the baby comes.. I hope that helps EDD 8-17-
Guest guest
Deanna, I'm right on track with you -- I'm 25 weeks and have gained 20 pounds. It's a little scary for me. I know that puts me in the range for a " normal " pregnancy weight gain of 25-35 pounds, but I thought being a gastric bypass patient, and still being a little overweight, maybe I should not gain as much. I go to the doc today, and I honestly can't remember how much I'd gained at my last visit, but they didn't say anything then. I think one difference is that you and I are further out from our WLS than some of the ladies who have much smaller gains or even losses. I had my surgery almost three years ago (4/5/01). I know there are other post-WLS folks three years out who probably gain less, but I'm trying not to worry about it. I haven't been eating perfectly (I give in to the ice cream and french fry cravings sometimes), and I haven't been walking as much as I should, though now that it's warming up I plan to walk more. I'm probably not making you feel better since I'm a little worried too. But the truth is, we are on track for a " normal " pregnancy weight gain. It's just hard for me to think of myself as a " normal " person sometimes, but I guess I am! At least we haven't gained 50 pounds, right???? Guest guest
Shelly and Deanna, I'm just like you guys, I had my surgery 7/2/01 and I have gained about 35 lbs, Hannah is due in 21 days. The only thing that I'm concerned about is that it feels like I'm hungry all the time and I'm eating all the time. Every morning I wake up with MAJOR hunger pains, actual pains! I have not had hunger pains since my surgery. I also feel like I can eat tons more than I usually can eat in one sitting. I am hoping that it goes back to normal once she is born. My husband says that it doesn't look like I can eat more at one sitting than I usually do so maybe I'm just being paranoid. This last few days I really feel like I did when I was preop and it is a scary feeling. My belly is so huge I can't see anything below it and with this swelling in my panni area, that jiggles alot and feels like my old fat belly. I feel so heavy getting up the stairs has been difficult, just like preop. I'm just trying to focus on the fact that this time next month I will be returning back to normal and hopefully feeling better! Guest guest
When I got pregnant I weighed 213 then my weight went down to 198.....and now its sitting at 206... I had RNY WLS 2 years ago on March 4...Lately I feel like I'm eating more but if I eat too much I am in the bathroom barfing. I also still get that uncomfortable feeling I got right after surgery. I have noticed I dump even more now that I am pregnant. I ate a Zone bar yesterday...usually this would not make me dump but I was ill. I thought I was going to die! Guest guest
I am now 37 weeks pregnant with my 3rd child, I had surgery in may of 2002, I have only gained about 23lbs so far, as for eating more than before pregnancy, OH YEAH that's my case, at least it feels that way, larger portions and such, I can now eat like a whole chicken breast, as opposed to before I would only eat 1/3-1/2 of it. I have heard that before and also heard that it goes back to " normal " after pregnancy. whatever normal is lol but women that didn't have wls gain around 25-40 lbs normally during pregnancy, so I think as long as I stay around that I'm fine, but it is scary to see that scale climbing all the time, it's just one more thing we have to get used to though

Guest guest
I am almost one year out from surgery (5/6/03) and got pregnant on purpose at 8 months out. I was close to my goal weight - so my doctor gave me permission. I was so sick during weeks 6-12 that I lost 10 lbs. I have now gained 2 of those pounds back and am now at the end of week 13. Hope this helps.
